So first off this book is told backwards. It starts off at the last chapter. Once you can wrap your mind around that you are good. I did get confused once or twice but was able to recover quickly. This was actually a pretty good book. I liked the story and by the time you are getting to the end(beginning) you get the wow, wait, what factor. I also liked the audio narrator. I do recommend everyone give it a try.

This was a wonderful, heart wrenching book about what was going on to people of the Baltic States by Stalin during WWII. The characters grow on you during their struggles and you feel each loss profoundly. I knew nothing about the suffering of the Lithuanians that were sent to Siberian work camps until now and that disturbs me. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in historical/historical fiction.

DebinHawaii Loved this one. It tore at my heart and had me ugly crying. 😭😭😭 6y
AmandaRae @DebinHawaii I feel like there is this whole chunk of history I was never taught! It was horrible what happened to these people and I feel like we are always taught about Hitler but Stalin did these horrible things that aren't mentioned 6y
DebinHawaii @AmandaRae I totally agree. I knew nothing about it until I read the book. So many important parts of history just seem to be glossed over. 6y

I absolutely loved this tragic historical fiction. It is set during WWII And you get to see the war through different eyes from different nations. Much of what I learned I had no clue about. This book also discusses the worst maritime disaster in history which is not widely known. The sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff. Over 10,000 people we lost to the sea. If you like historical fiction, or literature on WWII I HIGHLY recommend this.

I absolutely loved this book. I highly recommend it if you like YA or dystopian novels. It is the first in a series and I can't wait to get the next one. Also for an audio book it was well read with different voices.

This book was sort of confusing and all over the place to me. It felt like the author refused to take anything out so it is jam packed with words... It wasn't a bad read and I had to finish it. It wasn't my cup of tea but was interesting for trying a new author.

Listened to, loved, that's all there is... As these books progress in this series you see more relationship development between the characters. The only thing that bugs me at times is how slutty some of these women come off in these books. All in all a good read!

I found this book to be fantastic. While it focuses on Cora's journey to be free you meet many other characters along the way. Some of which are white men and women who help her. You get more dimension out of this book when it comes to different people's stories on each side than most other books. Definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book as I have the others in this series. The thing is there are always multiple problems to solve and just when one is taken care of there is another lurking in the shadows. That keeps me interested. I also enjoy the writing style. Overall a good read!

Finished this commute audiobook last night. Loved it. This was my first Stuart Woods book even though I have a bookshelf full of them I haven't read. I found it entertaining and well written with relatable characters. Also, even though this was part of a series it was fine as a stand alone.

I loved this Christmas story. It is written like all of these books with a love conquering all theme. This one had a beauty and the beast type of story line as well. This is one of my favorites in the series. It is also a great stand alone. It tackles the subject of what it is like for some wounded veterans ehen they come home. I definitely recommend it.

This is another wonderful mystery featuring our favorite lottery winners, Alvirah and Willy. This time we are on a cruise ship where nobody is who they seem to be. A suspicious death, a rare necklace, and a man with 1000 faces are what "detective" Alvirah is up against. This book is written in true Mary Higgins Clark style and is a great read for her fans.

This book was definitely a page turner for me. There were so many plot twists and turns it keeps you interested. This book is beautifully written in a way that allows you to emotionally invest in the characters. It is also one of those books that you think you know what is going on but then another level of crazy is exposed. I recommend this book for anyone who likes psychological thrillers.

There are many complaints on there not being any depth or substance in this book. Also, this book seems to have made many people uncomfortable... GOOD! It should make you uncomfortable... As for depth well I think that the beauty in this book was that these maids were explaining life. They didn't set out to change the the world. They were telling about experiences. Harsh segregation realities as well as love and hope with people of both races.

I once again am conflicted on how I feel about this book. Did it live up to the hype that surrounded it? I honestly think each reader will have to decide that for themselves. It was face paced and did keep me turning the pages but when I got to the end I was left with a "What was that?" feeling. Everyone warns that the ending is obvious but I guess I over complicated obvious. If you are into psychological thrillers you might enjoy this book.

I really didn't like this book. I found that it makes me doubt the feelings I had for some of the characters I loved in To Kill A Mockingbird. I am not sure what else to say besides it was not a good read in my opinion. I honestly felt like I shouldn't have read/listened to it and I don't say that often.
