I read this because it is close to wear I live. I liked the crime story part but I remember a lot of the rest being boring.

A few hours late for my prompt, but oh well.

Last night was a gorgeous night for reading a few chapters outside! Yes, I‘m STILL reading Les Mis. I‘m probably close to 3/4 of the way through. It‘s been a long time since I‘ve taken so long to finish a book other than the Bible, but I‘ve been enjoying it when I‘m able to read! #WineWednesday #ReadingResolutions

I'm taking #winewednesday very seriously 😏🍷🍷🍾🥂

And I'm actually enjoying the book. Historical fiction hasn't done it for me in a while, but I find the Romanov family endlessly, and problematically, fascinating.

I don't drink wine or any alcohol, actually, because booze + meds = bad news. BUT I might have to buy the tagged book because 🐧🍷. It'll pair well with my penguin wine bottle holder! 😂 #WineWednesday

leigha_land @TK-421 WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS?!? One of my friends needs this in her life! PLEASE let me know! 🐧💕🐧 2y
TK-421 @leigha_land Co-op Liquor store (it's a Western & Northern Canadian thing) so that's not much help if you live elsewhere but I did find a similar one on Amazon! 2y

“You can live in a dictatorship and be free - on one condition: that you fight the dictatorship. The man who thinks with his own mind and keeps it uncorrupted is free. But you can live in the most democratic country on earth, and if you‘re lazy, obtuse, or servile within yourself, you‘re not free. Even without violent coercion, you‘re a slave.”

The Haunting | Shirley Jackson

#readingresolutions #winewednesday @Jess7

"Journeys end in lovers meeting; I have spent an all but sleepless night, I have told lies and made a fool of myself, and the very air tastes like wine. I have been frightened half out of my foolish wits, but I have somehow earned this joy; I have been waiting for it for so long."

I don't really drink wine, but I have these fun skull goblets, and they compliment the spookiness of The Haunting well.

MrsReads1 Shirley Jackson is one of my favorites! 😍 2y
madamereadsalot1 @MrsReads1 She is amazing! We Have Always Lived in the Castle is my favorite of hers. 2y
MrsReads1 Yes! We recently read that for my F2F book club and I was overjoyed to have an excuse to revisit it. So creepy! 2y
