I really liked this attempt to tell the story of Gudrid Thorbjarnardóttir in her own words, for the most part. There were a few stylistic bits I disliked (the bits in italics), and some of the (one-sided) conversations between her and Agnar were a bit too long, but I loved the affection that grew up between them that was very obvious despite the way the story is told.
I only remembered three things about THE LAST LIGHT OF THE SUN:
1. There were vikings.
2. They blood eagled people.
3. I didn‘t enjoy it as much as Kay‘s other books.
Now I‘m rereading it for the first time, eighteen years on, and I‘m loving it. Kay hits me hardest when he‘s PERSONAL, above mythic or political, and this book is very much that. I can‘t wait to plunge onwards.
Also of note: it‘s Allie‘s 8th birthday! She loves it under her tree.
Attending my first #SilentBookClub meeting. Very thrilled to be spending an hour in silence with other readers.
Let‘s see if this book can get me out of my reading slump

⭐️⭐️⭐️ In a weird-for-me twist, the romance was actually my least favorite part of this. I thought Jensen did a great job creating the setting, bringing in & fleshing out the Norse gods & culture, and giving readers an easy way to understand all the people & connections.
The romance felt very fast, which doesn‘t usually bother me, and forced, so I didn‘t connect with it as much.
I‘m glad I finally read this & I‘ll definitely read book two!
Took a while….its hard to get back into the swing of reading consistently!….but we got there!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It‘s been a while since I‘ve read a Viking-themed fantasy, and “A Fate Inked in Blood” was one that I found interesting. Bjorn is a heck of a character (in a good way), but Freya was a tad annoying at times. Now onto the sequel!
Well I can‘t craft, so I shall read. Of all positions to fall asleep in! God she is adorable!
