The beginning started off strong and promising, however as the book carried on it started to become slow and boring. Ana was naive and the relationship was unhealthy and had no substance to it. Also, the cruelty was not really there and there was no shock value. Also, the ending ended really easy.

I‘ve been looking forward to this book for two years and this fell super flat. The character had it way to easy when it came to her heists. Not great world building and not great character building. The best thing was the pace and the friendships.

Willis in general and this book in particular have been hugely recommended to me. I guess I just don't get the hype? I was promised witty hilarity with brilliant plot and I was mostly bored and found it contrived. #twostars #unpopularopinion

esurient (This read is probably on the line between a pan and a so-so for me. I recognize that it wasn't a bad book, I just didn't like it. I'm siding this on the pan side on the grounds that I have utterly no urge to read another book by this author.) 6y

I feel like this had so much potential...classic retelling with a diverse twist. Some of the verse was written beautifully but the story just didn't really come through strong enough. For me this one just fell kind of flat. 2/5⭐️#twostars #meh #retelling #bookreview
