bthegood Over the years this movie has become a “classic Christmas“ movie (and I'm glad because I am a fan) - Sound Of Music in our house is considered a holiday movie (Thanksgiving/Christmas season) - yet nothing about it screams holiday 😂 (edited) 9mo

dabbe @bthegood We watched Sound of Music at Christmas, too, because it was always on at that time of the year. And The Wizard of Oz would always come on around Easter. Why? I have no idea, but they were rites of passage in our house! 😃 9mo

SaunteringVaguelyDownwards Even more fun is realizing that John McClane is the antagonist of this movie, not the protagonist - he's the obstacle getting in the way of Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) achieving his goals! 9mo

dabbe @SaunteringVaguelyDownwards Absolutely! I guess you could go the other way, too, with McClane being given his quest unknowingly (like Dorothy arriving in Oz), and then his quest is to save his wife, and Gruber is in the way! I just adore hero's quest stories! 🤩😍🤗 9mo

Reading this while at the Bosphorus-Golden Horn sunset cruise while vacationing in Istanbul with family right now.
