I love Kate diCamillo but for some reason this book did not resonate with Trix. It may be that she would just prefer for Luke to continue reading The Sisters Grimm with her. In any case, we have put it aside for now. Disappointing, but worth trying something else for a while.

Here‘s another wild adventure by the creative and oh-so-cool children‘s author Kate DiCamillo. 🙌🏻 You‘ll meet a comic-book obsessed young girl, her wacky romance novelist mom, several eccentric and philosophical neighbors and a lovable poetic rodent! There‘s also a sprinkling of graphic novel pages for even more fun. A 2014 Newbery Medal winner and a gem of a read!

Super cute book! I loved the relationship of Flora and her dad, but felt sad/mad that the mom had to be the adversary.

monkeygirlsmama Read this with my daughter years back and remember thoroughly enjoying it. 3mo
CogsOfEncouragement I read this with my kids years ago and we loved it. 3mo

What a lovely thing to do, Helen! I‘m a little envious I didn‘t have this idea. 😉 Thank you so much for your greetings from across the pond and helping kids to access books!

Bookzombie That is a lovely gift idea! 4mo
squirrelbrain Not my idea Holly…I stole it (unintentionally!) off @Oryx who did this last year (and this year too). I went online to find a place I could donate books and found what I thought was different to where Emma donated last year, but turned out to be the exact same charity! 🤦‍♀️ (edited) 4mo
Hooked_on_books @squirrelbrain Hey, nothing wrong with stealing the idea then ending up with the same charity! Getting books into the hands of kids is never a bad thing. It‘s one of the best things we can do to secure the future, in my opinion, so I think what you‘ve done is fabulous! 4mo
Oryx @squirrelbrain Then more donations the better! There's no stealing ☺️ - I love that you are doing it too. 4mo

The last book in a perfect series. And what a perfect ending. In this story we see all the lessons from the previous 4 books, courage, self-sacrifice, responsibility, and leadership, come together to complete this beloved hero‘s arch. I hope the many other readers of this book, no matter their age, enjoys these books as much as I did. They are most certainly stories I hope to read to my children someday. #52challenge

Again, I love these books! This one was especially interesting as it addresses the topic of grief and mental illness/confusion in a way that children can understand and learn to sympathize with those who suffer from such heartache. It also teaches responsibility and the hardships but also rewards of growing up to be someone who protects others. #52challenge

As I said about the first book, I cannot say enough about this series. Amazing story for all ages and great for a family to read together. This is by far the darkest plot of all 5 books and even made me scared of the villain at times but not is a way that would cause nightmares for children. This book teaches the importance of good vs. evil and how doing what is right and protecting those we love sometimes requires self sacrifice. #52challeng

This is the first book in a series of 5 and I cannot say enough about these books. Though they are written for young readers, I greatly enjoyed the read myself. This story teaches the importance of courage and doing what is right even when it‘s scary and difficult. If you‘re looking for a last minute gift for a child in your life I‘d 10/10 recommend this book. Just be prepared to by the rest of the series because they‘ll be hooked. #52challenge
