lynneamch @MicheleinPhilly Have you read I'll Take You There yet? I haven't. I got to hear him at his book launch in NYC for We Are Water. Love what he does to give incarcerated women a voice through writing, but I haven't read those yet either. 7y

lynneamch @readinginthedark Thanks! It's been so long since I read that, but I think what I enjoyed was how real it felt. The 50s & 60s cultural references were spot on (I was there ?) and it was a good reminder that the "good old days " were not good for everyone. I wouldn't let it dissuade you from reading some of the others. I see you're reading The Eyre Affair ❤❤that! 7y

MicheleinPhilly @lynneamch I have not! Wally Lamb is one of my "I want to own the physical book" authors and this year I've tried to limit those purchases to just my BOTM selections. 7y

MicheleinPhilly I think I have only ever read The Poisonwood Bible. 😬 My others are Zadie Smith, Sarah Waters, Emma Donoghue, Julia Glass, and Michael Cunningham. 7y

readinginthedark @lynneamch I don't remember much about it either, I guess; I just remember really disliking the main character, with whom I felt we were supposed to sympathize. It was a long time ago and my tastes have changed a bit; maybe I should try another one. 7y
