When Hamish Macbeth, local constable of the Scottish village of Lochdubh, tries to break up one of the many fights involving Randy Duggan, the ruffian challenges him to a fistfight. But on the chosen day, Duggan is found shot to death and Macbeth is rumored to be the likely suspect. Macbeth must find the murderer, clear his name, and restore his Highland paradise to its usual

EadieB tranquility. This is a light and entertaining cozy mystery which is a look at life in a small Scottish village. Hamish is the sort of character who grows on you. He needs to find out who murdered Randy Duggan in order to save both his career and his life. He is sure that the murder of the Macho Man was a crime of passion. I am now looking forward to another Hamish Macbeth novel. 10mo
EadieB There are plenty more to choose from so that won't be a problem. If you like comedy with your mysteries then you will love this book. 10mo
Crazeedi I really need to get back to this series!! 10mo

kezzlou85 I vaguely remember the TV series because my mum had a crush on Robert Carlyle. I've read a couple of the books and need to go back to them. 10mo

D. K. Broster seems to be mostly forgotten these days, but I've enjoyed very much several of her historical fiction novels . This novel is the first of a trilogy about the unexpected friendship between two soldiers on opposite sides of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion in Scotland.

A fun cozy mystery set in the Scottish Highlands. American Eden needs a bit of a respite from her personal problems, so her BFF suggests time away in the Highlands. Eden stumbles upon murder and becomes a suspect in various deeds happening in Glenkillen. Quick pace; perfect escape reading. And, I finished this with a few of my boys resting nearby. #Zeke #SebastianKitty #Xander #CatsOfLitsy #19822022 #2014

Listening to this as my night book. Oh, my goodness! One of the characters just said, “Lord love a duck.” I haven‘t heard that since my mother died 35 years ago. 😊❤️

Tamra My mom & her sister often used it! 😄 2y
KathyWheeler @Tamra my mom is the only person, besides my aunts, that I‘ve ever heard say it. She was from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. (edited) 2y
