pickThis was an important book for me as a child. One of the few books with a “Native American“ storyline, and my childhood self understood the rarity.
While not from my ancestral tribes, this was a story from my ancestral world. I loved this story and would spend untold hours studying the illustrations.
Just reread this, and the story is still as profound to me today as it had been all those many years ago. I've fallen in love all over again. 👇
panDidn‘t really like this one, lots of travelling scenes, very little dialogue and the antagonists were the same as other generic jealous stallions from other Silver Brumby books. I found myself getting bored overall. The new characters were fine and the cave labyrinth was kind of interesting though.
bailedI‘ve got the second volume of the Silver Brumby series and have finished reading Silver Brumby Kingdom so far. I finished it but I wouldn‘t read it again. It has nice descriptions of the Australian landscape and nature and I liked the use of dual timelines but the characters and plot weren‘t that interesting. The final battle also seemed to come out of nowhere.
pickI love the Punchbowl Farm series. These are vintage pony books from one of the genre's best-loved authors. It's a great story that I always love reading.

A Devil to Ride by Patricia Leitch is the second book in the Jinny pony books series. I really loved the Jinny books when I was a child. They are so different to traditional pony books.
