One Boy Watching | Grant Snider

I drove a school bus for 10 years! I can't believe Grant Snider didn't. Maybe he did. This book is an accurate account of a bus route. The illustrations took me back to my driving days.

Our world is full of constantly changing numbers, from a hundred billion trillion stars in space to thirty-seven billion rabbits on Earth.

I think this book is perfect for older students, and could be used to facilitate great discussions!

Anno's Counting Book | Mitsumasa Anno

#kidlit for the win! They closed my library so I could sub for a first grade teacher. She wanted a math lesson where the kids could write math phrases about a picture, but she was sick and her plans were incomplete. Thank dog I have all the books! I may be the only one who checks out the Anno books. I imagine the next librarian will weed them.

Bookzombie I understand weeding, but it also makes me sad. Maybe the first grade teacher will want them if/when you move on. My sister retired and passed a lot of her classroom library on to other teachers. Of course, she has been filling in where they have positions unfilled and now misses having that library for the kids. 5mo
mandarchy @Bookzombie I'm the school librarian, so the books I weed have to go through channels determined by the district. There are about 20,000 books in my library. 5mo

The book would be best to read with 3rd grade and up but could be read with younger grades. I think it could be difficult for younger students to get the full understanding but they can relate to the book and the facts that it gives. This book would be good to use in a science or math class. The authors note help adds to how the author found the information within the book.

The book reviews facts about the Earth and stars. It names the number of stars in our sky, as well as how many breaths you breathe in a year or all the crazy numbers that make up the world. The facts are simple and concise for easy reading and understanding. It compares numbers and uses pictures so it is easier for the reader to comprehend. It makes note that the book every day it is changing. The pictures are simple and aid with understanding.
