I have read a lot of stories about the Holocaust, both Fiction and lots of Non-Fiction. #Maus offers a completely new perspective, both from the survivors themselves and the next generation. It depicts trauma in a very harrowing way. A must-read, for older teens as well.

Bought today! I'm excited to read this; it's been on my #tbr for the longest time. It's so incredibly important to read these testaments of the Holocaust and to remember with clarity so that it may never happen again. I feel privileged to have this. I'll update once I start reading, but I plan on finishing my current reads first (Carl Sagan and Cormac McCarthy).

This book reminded me of all the beautiful and heartbreaking stories my Palestinian friend Laila told me in college.

Anaële is a Belgian volunteer worker in Palestine for 9 months. Her sister, Delphine, who was in Belgium, illustrated their correspondence for this epistolary graphic memoir.

(Anecdote: Laila is now a cookbook author and was on Bourdain‘s Parts Unknown Palestine episode. Link below ⬇️)

"But here God didn't come. We were all on our own".
If this doesn't move you and scar you emotionally, I don't know what will. It's a horror story beyond anything, and also a character study of this surviving father ?
Maus 2 continues the story and focuses on the brutality of the holocaust in agonizing detail, gripping, terrifying and eye opening.

Simple yet powerful 🖤 The comic style was vibrant with life and gave way to a movie experience. Although we have known a lot about the holocaust, reading a personal story with such emotions is haunting even now. A time when humanity lost it's path 💔
#Maus : A survivor's tale. Another classic experience ❤

I teach this beauty the week we return from 🦃break. Heavy stuff, but I'm so excited that the World War II unit is giving me a chance to finally read it.

A collaborative travel memoir in #comics format, composed of letters between two Belgian sisters, one of whom stays home in Liege while the other volunteers for 10 months in Palestine in 2008. If you‘re looking for something lighter in tone than Joe Sacco‘s work, try this. #translation #graphicnovel #nonfiction
