Hey @squirrelbrain how are you getting on with this? One day I‘m finding its really interesting then other days I‘m finding it a slog. 🤷‍♀️ I feel like I want to be done with it now but I‘m only 37% through!! 🤦‍♀️ #looseygooseybuddyread

squirrelbrain Hey, just the same for me! I‘m reading it on the train (or I was - distracted with something else this week!). Some days I enjoy it, other days I couldn‘t tell you what I‘ve read, even though I‘m turning the pages! 😬 I think I‘m enjoying the personal stuff and not the war / political bits. I‘m about 50% in (Napoleon‘s around) and I‘m hoping it will get more and more interesting the closer it gets to present day. 4y

Caroline2 @squirrelbrain Yeah I‘ve just got up to the napoleon bit so it‘s feeling more engaging now. I think the author gets way too distracted giving details on all the Generals and their love lives....I don‘t care!!! Just stick with the royal family, that‘s hard enough to follow as it is!!!! 😆 4y

Nute I haven‘t read Flappers, but Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is a favorite book of mine. The 19th Wife was very good as well. You have a lot of good books to choose from.🙂 5y

Sorry Helen, I‘m going to have to bail on this for now. I‘ve had a bad migraine so I haven‘t been able to read but now my head has cleared I realllllly don‘t want to go back to this. 🤷‍♀️ beautiful writing but I just can‘t face the tragedy at the mo.

squirrelbrain I read one chapter on the train home from work last night.... (had another book to finish first and then the in-laws cam round for Chinese so no reading in the evening). I love how you‘re immediately immersed in a different culture. 5y
