Every Dog Has His Day | John R Erickson

My spouse is not here to see what #nelson did—she is the gardener in our house—but I think it‘s a little bit hilarious. He did just what he does on the couch with all of his blankets, keeps at it until it‘s juuuusssttt right!

It‘s not even that warm right now!

Can I Get There by Candlelight? | Jean Slaughter Doty

Look what I‘m reading, @Centique . You were the last person to post about this book … 8 years ago. 😆

A young girl discovers that she can visit the past while riding her pony, Candy (aka Candlelight). I can‘t resist a vintage time-slip story!

Tamra Looks like delightful escapism. 😍 5d
LeahBergen @Tamra That it is. And just what I need! 😆 (edited) 5d

A lion in the meadow | Margaret Mahy
post image

Here you go @merelybookish this is the very colourful childrens author Margaret Mahy who wrote over 100 picture books as well as a couple of dozen novels. She was also a librarian and dedicated to growing young readers. She would be the most well know author in NZ because everyone (around my age at least) grew up reading her books.

Jeg Love her books. 1mo
Centique @Jeg Lion in the Meadow is my favourite. Read that to my children thousands of times! 1mo
merelybookish Thanks Paula! She is colourful! 😀 I saw she won lots of prestigious kidlit prizes out of NZ too but I'm not sure she ever cracked North America. 1mo

This was such a fun read. Great little mystery with well-developed (for the reading level) characters, a cross between two of my childhood favorites: Nancy Drew and Harriet the Spy. Recommended reading for 4th through 7th grade. I‘ve enjoyed it so much that I‘m going to look for the next book at my library.

I have spent the last several months working with K-8 students using school libraries as my “office.” I have definitely rediscovered my love for children‘s books. I‘m seriously considering switching to children‘s collections for my Master‘s.

This book is pretty good, so far. I got about a quarter of the way through today because all my second graders were independent minded and told me to bugger off while they worked. :D

After Gangsta Granny, this is the second David Williams book I‘ve read. It is a beautiful story of a special relationship between grandfather and grandson. Struggeling with dementia the grandpa is reliving his adventures during WWII and the grandson is the only one who gets how to help him - by playing along. The end is a little bit over the top, but then again it is a story for children, so it is fine. 👨‍✈️👨‍✈️👨‍✈️

Wow, if the copyright is already designed like this, what will the rest of the look like? Definitely setting the bar very very high…
