so-soThere were some very good things, but overall this was just pretty good. Multiple MCs, all three of whom have their own storylines including some flashbacks for two and an entire past story for the primary (told in present tense, naturally), makes it a challenge to follow. My main issues are that the whole conflict arises from NOT TALKING TO EACH OTHER, and caused major grief for lots of people; and that there‘s no real resolution. It just ends.
pickAngus loves things that sparkle and glitter and gleam. He loves his grandma‘s necklace that she gifts him when she realizes it brings him joy, but when he wears it to school, the reaction of the other kids dims that joy.

A very well structured book. Each jewel gets its own section, and we pursue it from the ancient times to the modern, and from the jeweler to the mines it was dug up in (the author visits those mines, and often tries mining herself). It‘s fascinating, coherent, and flows really well.
