I enjoyed these "Portraits in History" written over the years by McCullough and collected into this volume in 1992. Slightly dated, but historical nonetheless. After reading it you feel the importance of history along with the desire for time to stand still as we move forward.

Perhaps my favorite "portrait" was about the photographer David Snowden and the day spent with McCullough riding around Illinois looking for the perfect shot.
