This was a quick read. I enjoyed the book. If these books would have came out when I was a kid, I would have loved them. I rated the book a 4 out of 5 stars.

I lived out west for 22 years and never heard about the 1910 fires. But I watched year after year as Yellowstone evolved after the fires of 1988. Egan brings it to life along with its heroic and cowardly moments. The subtitle is a bit misleading as it is Gifford Pinchot more than Teddy who is the policy focus. But the real interest for me lay not in the DC politics, but in the efforts of underfunded unappreciated forest rangers.

Found inside my 2nd hand copy “To Dad from SSCR” Four kids? A family nickname? I‘m intrigued.

3✨ Enna‘s brother comes home and learns how to make fire using power inside of him that he didn‘t have before. When tragedy and war break out in their country Enna is at a crossroads in what to do when she learns the fire power too. It is the second book of the Goose Girl series and does feature characters we met in the first book.

Im sure some of you have been there but I was just in the Livraria Lello in Porto, Portugal which is dubbed one of the most beautiful book stores in the world - cost 10 euro to get in but it was beautiful. The rumor (which isn‘t true) is that JK Rowling based her Hogwarts library on it bc she had lived in Porto. Even though it‘s not true - still fun to pretend and appreciate how pretty this little store is. 💕📚

The setting for this historical fiction novel was the Richmond, VA theater fire of 1811, which was the biggest tragedy of its day. I appreciate the author‘s research and her efforts to bring to life real people who were present at the time. Where she lost me is when she wrote characters from 1811 as if they had the opinions of people living in 2020. Even though I agree with their opinions, women in 1811 would not have talked or behaved that way.

I have several books I‘m trying to finish that might end up in my queue, but this is a mostly complete list for July. 🤩 I will be trying to continue to finish some #SeriesLove in the following month, but got a lot of my #roll100 caught up and #FairyTaleRetellingChallenge is caught up! 😍 Next will be my #DolittleDiscussion and #LosersClub
