#isolationinteraction @ElizaMarie I cannot get my brain to settle enough to read a book or write my paper that is due Saturday. I never expected this side effect from a pandemic.

In other news I‘m so glad for Litsy!!!! Anyone else really struggling with focus??? And oddly, fatigue? (Of course rainy weather is not helping)

Bry I was having a hard time focusing during my first couple days off but I found it helped to pick a book that had really short chapters so I only had to commit to a few minutes at a time...not sure how that would apply to paper-writing though! 4y

Amandajoy Yes, all of the things. I feel like everything I learned reading Burnout did not prepare me for a pandemic, social distancing, working from home, & homeschooling step kids. 4y

xicanti I seem to be doing okay with books, but I find it REALLY hard to write and, oddly, to watch TV. On the writing front, drafting longhand has helped me focus. It lets me get SOMETHING down, even if it‘s not perfect, and I can usually manage a preliminary edit while I type the thing up. 4y

BethM Word! Fatigue and focus are both hard. You got this! 4y

Hooked_on_books Yes, focus is a definite struggle. For me, audiobook + crafting helps, as it engages my brain and my hands and splits my focus enough that it‘s hard to think about anything but what I‘m doing. Which is a win in my book. 4y

Chrissyreadit @xicanti yes! Even tv is difficult! I am working from home and am struggling from not having the transition time. I think I need to just build in transition activities to reset my focus. 4y

Hooked_on_books I‘m putting together a model kit of a bookshop, actually. I posted a pic a week or so ago, but next time I do, I‘ll tag you. 4y

ElizaMarie Oh no! I am so sorry that your mind is wandering too much. Could you be hearing too much COVID news? I felt like when I was looking at it too much I was unable to think of anything else. This road trip drive thing is getting so icky with just viewing people in gloves/gowns/masks while pumping gas and stuff.

Chrissyreadit @ElizaMarie I‘m a total news junkie, info junkie nerd. I‘m just not focused because there‘s so much to do! My change in routine and the teens routine has thrown me. 4y

ElizaMarie @Chrissyreadit Ah yes. I didn't think about routines too! I think because I do the 3 - 12 hour days and they kinda vary as to which day... I don't have a strong routine for anything.

I feel like I really should get started with a routine (like a work day routine and a non-work day routine) it might help me feel more centered. 4y

Taking quick break. If I can complete this paper it will be a significant weight off my shoulders. But I have to get my daughter to her appt and theatre, pick up my son from school, and have a place with WiFi- all while getting updates on my brothers custody hearing across the country. Tonight I will give myself time to read as a break!

My life for the next few months....one of the many but this is definitely the one with the driest content. Ready for books I want to read rather than those I “have” to read!
