Bailedbailed

I guess John Grisham isn't an author for me. I found this kind of tedious, and I wasn't invested in finding out how it ended. Moving on.... #hailthebail

Ruthiella I saw The Pelican Brief and read The Firm and that was enough for me. 1mo
RamsFan1963 @Ruthiella Honestly, before this, I'd only read one John Grisham novel, Playing For Pizza. Not really into legal thrillers, but I love a good football underdog story. 4w

Hubby and I had brunch with Mark Billingham today…. Well, us, and about 50 other people!

He‘s a very funny guy - he actually used to be a stand-up comedian.

At one point he talked about abandoning books he wasn‘t enjoying. He asked who reads books right to the end even if they‘re not loving them and I got thoroughly told off! 😝

Ruthiella I also tend to stick it out to the bitter end with books. 😂 (edited) 1mo

TheEllieMo I‘ve only once ever been able to bail; I always have this feeling that maybe the book will improve… (edited) 1mo
Suet624 I stick it out. I remember one book‘s last paragraph made it all worthwhile. 1mo
Cathythoughts He sounds great 👍🏻 😁 1mo

Pickpick

I love this series. I am rereading (listening) to them because I think I have missed some. Down a Dark Road is the 9th one in the Kate Burkholder Series by Linda Castillo.

A childhood friend, Joesph, is in prison for murder. He escapes and asks Kate Burkholder to help clear his name. Kate soon finds out there's more going on than she thought. Of course, Kate finds herself in trouble. I always think to myself, Kate, don't go meet ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read ⬆️ that person or don't go to that place, because I know she's going to have some kind of problem.

I love that Castillo still manages to grab me. She continues to grow all the regular characters in the series, not only Kate's. I know that when I pick up one of these books, I am going to be entertained and kept engaged with the story.

If you have never read this series, and you like thrillers or police procedurals, you need to give it a try. Highly recommend.

My #Roll100 book choices for April. This year's sociopolitical theme is providing a very informative yet steep learning curve. Which is exactly what I needed.
