Finished the last book of the current #LMPBC round and my first cozy. It was an easy read, predictable (in a good way), and very enjoyable. I loved guessing (accurately) what would happen next. If this is what cozies are like, I will read more. Only one thing that I didn‘t like-The title really had no connection with the story. 3/5 🍄s

3.5 ⭐️ I didn‘t realize this was a cozy mystery until quite a bit into it lol. It is a fast read. The writing is smooth, enjoyable and I was actually surprised how quickly it read it.

A young girl from an aristocratic background falls on hard times and by pure chance (and some lying) becomes a cook for the queen of England. There‘s lots of cooking, mentions of class (superiors / inferiors lol) and of course a mystery. #LMPBC #GROUPJ #ROUND10

Yay! I finished it! This is my selection for #LMPBC Round 10 Group J - historical fiction. It‘s also my #DoubleSpin for November! I chose this book because I really like Rhys Bowen and my son is a chef, and it‘s about Queen Victoria‘s kitchen. Would the relationship between the Queen and the MC, Bella/Helen really be possible? Hmmm... #feastmode #NovelNovember and #24B4Monday What an end to November! And I have 1 more to add!

LeahBergen @Leftcoastzen We have two really big sales here per year and they were canceled this year because of Covid. 😭😭 I said it was like cancelling my Christmas. 😂 5y

Leftcoastzen No kidding! There were 2 big rummage sales near me cancelled, 3 small library sales ,cancelled! I understand but , the worst is a charity book sale that has been going on here for 60+ years,is the size of a fairground size exhibition hall, (!!!) is cancelled for next February!😫😭 5y

I am so happy right now! How could I resist this James Beard winning cookbook!Toni Tipton-Martin spent years accumulating on of the world‘s largest collection of cookbooks published by African American authors to look for evidence of influence on food & American culture.A beautiful book by a cultural historian ? Yes please! As I deny I collect cookbooks and have approximately 250 .🙄❤️📚

LeahBergen Oh, jeez. Yeah, that‘s me, too (I probably have a couple of hundred as well). 😆 I bought a really cool older one at a sale a couple of years ago that is right in line with this post. Have you ever heard of it?

This just worked for me👩‍🍳I loved the time (Victorian London) and the setting ( Palace of Queen Victoria & French Rivera ) and the narration was impeccable 🎧🇬🇧Bella, once a young aristocrat finds her fortunes reversed and is placed into servitude. She comes by a position in the Queen‘s Kitchen by trickery. The attention to detail was wonderful & I enjoyed reading all the delicious food dishes described. Good fun, perhaps far-fetched
