I can't believe it's almost time for the November #BookSpin draw! Because I've arranged spreadsheet that I pull the list from by page number I have four new books on the list for this month. They include the tagged, Annie Bot, Dead Silence, and Buffalo Hunter Hunter. I'm excited to see what the numbers are!

I use the #BookSpin list for titles from a long-term, ten-year plan challenge I'm doing. This month I had to kind of re-strategize the list because I'm running out of physical books to use and am having to switch to more digital titles. New to the list this month are three titles: the tagged, The Promise of Blood, and You Sexy Thing. I'm also still working on my backlog of this year's previous draws.

I... need to think this one over a while before I review it fully for my blog. It felt like the first third or so was setting up something really fascinating, and then it kind of went. Mystical? And bits of it reminded me excessively of Rivers Solomon's work.

In any case, here's my pre-weekend #BookSpinBingo card, and lookit that -- this was my #DoubleSpin. I feel like I'm making a great start!

This was brilliant!
The world has gone through ‘The change‘, a climate catastrophe that was caused by the older generation and the country has built an enormous concrete wall around its entirety, so there are no beaches left. The younger generation have never seen a beach or swam at one. The youth are drafted to spend 2 years on the wall defending it from ‘The others‘. If you fail to defend the wall you are put to sea as punishment. ⬇️

#roll100 had high hopes for this one, and it starts wrong, very Annihilation-esque. It just fell a bit flat for me, a bit slow and no real explanation of events. I would have liked some flashbacks to explain how planet Earth had got to this point. I do think it would make a good film though!

This massive book, a chronicle of the climate crisis as it plays out over the course of several years, was brilliant, terrifying & at times overwhelming. A terrorist, an activist, a data analyst, an advertising executive, a scientist, their lovers, friends & family, all play their parts as the future inexorably arrives, day after day. This was a masterpiece, & all the more horrifying because, after the election, it feels if anything too optimistic

We follow Kavanagh as he starts his 2 year tour of duty as Defender at the Wall.The Wall was built to keep water and the Others out of an unnamed country which has been affected less by climate change than the rest of the world,hence,the Others are trying to get in.The ones who make it are either sent back, killed or can become Help=slaves.Life at the Wall is dull,dangerous&cold.yet if you become a Breeder,I.e. start a family

My second day of book shopping was January 2nd & part of the Vermont Independent Bookstore Passport Tour. Went to Brattleboro, VT to a great bookstore, Everyone‘s Books. Based on @Lindy and @shawnmooney recs I grabbed the tagged book. Based on @BarbaraBB rec I picked up The Night Guest. I zoned in on the only Cosby book I haven‘t read and I‘ve been eager to read. And who doesn‘t want to be more spiritually intelligent! 😂
