pickI read this one many years ago with my older two boys but recently read it with my 9 year old. She loved Ivan‘s story. She‘d get upset that we had to stop any time that she felt it was a cliff hanger. I love how she gets so into a story & loves reading every night. It‘s a sweet but sad story to view life from an animal(s) perspective- Ivan, Ruby, Stella, Bob.
pickThis book had me ugly crying but with happiness at the end. I borrowed it from the school library where I work. Such an important book for children to show them empathy and respect for the animal world. It‘s heartbreaking because a lot of it is true.

I loved this book as a kid! I think students would enjoy learning about Ivan and his challenges. I could also pair it with the movie.
