This is a fascinating history of Florida in the 1920s with its real estate boom and bust that the author posits was the main cause of the Great Depression. I was wholly absorbed by this narrative nonfiction. #ReadYourEbooks

3 🌟 Eh. I love to swim, and I probably felt exactly like this child when I was young and in the water. But it just felt flat. The book tries at time to rhyme or to have a cadence, but frequently fails. It uses long lists of synonyms to get a point across that could be done with one word. Just not for me.

This book was okay… I had no idea about the Florida land boom of the 1920s and learned a lot about Florida‘s economic and social history, but Knowlton focuses too much on the personal lives and drama of superrich real estate developers for my liking.

Anyone else having a super wild and crazy Saturday night? 🤣

This toddler book explores shapes through blowing bubbles. It was a nice and simple book, but I wish it would have answered the question it posed, which is why are bubbles always a sphere no matter what shape you blow them out of.

This book doesn‘t carry its rhymes and cadence all the way through, but it does not matter. It is still a cute story for both fans and novices to Narwhal and Jelly.

Aside from the year I lived in England, I've spent my whole life in Florida, and I got my BA from Flagler College. This book about the history of the Florida land craze from Flagler to the stock market crash was fascinating. It filled in some gaps and left me with new questions. Makes me want to read a bio of Hurston -- something I've been meaning to do for some time.

Happy Friday! We kick off the Weekend with the Jane's Addiction Cocktail. Gin and Pomegranate Juice, Splash of Lime, and Topped with Pink Bubbles. Sadly I didn't have any Raspberries to Garnish; but I can as the book says "ponder Jane's Love of Love. Tastes a bit like a grown up Hawaiian Punch.???
