Just got the hardcover copy from Books A Million 😄
I made the mistake thinking this was a horror book. (it‘s classified as one) This book is just not the book for me, the writing was cringy and eye roll worthy. The ending was even worse. Just no accountability for serious actions to a serious lack of control in a hostile situation. Only likable character was the little brother. Over all. No.

I've been quite busy this month with work... So I haven't read as much as I wanted to. But despite it all, it was quite a good reading month. The three books on the pic were excellent, I 100% recommend them.

Finished this on the last weekend before heading back to school. The story of a group of people from different backgrounds whose lives converge in unexpectedly tender and devastating ways. I enjoyed this read, but wasn‘t a fan of the ending. The writing was fresh and interesting, especially considering it was a debut.

4/5
Excellent novel about an isolated teen living in Mayotte. Written with different voices, we discover his story, from his early childhood to the present.
Trigger warning: this book is violent, but very realistic. That's what I liked about it. The different characters are well-built, the change of tone between characters is impressive.
Beautifully written, the author used her experience there to write this book.

I enjoyed reading Zetta‘s poems. She uses a variety of forms which makes this a highly dynamic read, and her work does an excellent job of driving home her point. These poems will catch your attention. The illustrations throughout were a nice touch. #Poetry

Gary Younge giving a rousing argument for political engagement (instead of the history talk I was hoping for: but it was excellent anyway).
