It‘s cloudy but blessedly cool. Enjoying a mid morning coffee and a book. I am enjoying this Victorian murder mystery. The author‘s descriptions of London are vivid, especially her scenes set in the slums of London. She captures the misery of the peoples lives, especially the women‘. #coffeeandbooks #VictorianEngland ☕️📚#July #20in4 #readathon #porchlife

2nd in the series, and I enjoyed it even more than the first. This is such a fun adventure, and the Veronica/Stoker dynamic is absolutely the best kind of slow burn! I look forward to diving into a few more of these this summer! And even better, I just got my older daughter to read the first one while I was reading this. Then she impatiently had to wait for me to finish book 2 and hand it over 😁

lirahlu I LOVE Veronica and Stoker! 2mo
CoffeeNBooks I loved the first book, but never read any more in the series- I need to pick the series up again. 2mo

I‘m enjoying my reread of this series. I‘m starting to like it more on audio. I had mixed feelings when listening to the first one.

I like seeing the beginning of Stoker and Veronica‘s relationship again.

I‘ll continue with my reread of these books. So relaxing to listen to.

Here are my goals for March! February was pretty good- completed bookspin and half done with double spin, did yoga or pilates for 23 days, and volunteered 4 days! Excited to continue my yoga/ pilates practice- I can see muscles! #bfc2022 #bfc

I read the first book in this series ages ago and for some reason didn‘t pick up the second, though I meant to. Finally got back to it and it was a refreshing blend of mystery, romance, and humor! I loved it.

Went to the library to pick up my hold on Neon Gods, and they were giving ARCs away as a “Blind Date with a Book.“ My hint was “Skull-lined Mansions.“

GondorGirl Okay, now I need to know which book that was! 😳🥰 6mo
AmandaBlaze @GondorGirl It's tagged above the blurb: The Thing about Thugs by Tabish Khair, a Victorian murder mystery involving phrenolgy. 🙂 6mo

It was okay. Highlighted the battle of the sexes where men didn‘t think women capable of logic or reason. Suffragettes, women‘s rights and other issues of the day are brought up as part of Lady Amy‘s attempt to solve the murder of her ex fiancé after his body is found dead in her home. She breaks off their engagement after she discovers he‘s an opium dealer and becomes the prime suspect. Interesting look at the times, though not a riveting plot.
