Bree‘s destiny as a Scion of Arthur is under threat when the Order doesn‘t want to acknowledge her claim, & a mysterious Hunter that has been chasing her ancestors appears.

An intense roller coaster of a sequel! The world gets fleshed out a lot more, we got more of the magic, & Bree making connections outside of the Order. I do find myself impatient w/ the love triangle, & I‘m not a fan of cliffhangers. But I‘m excited for book 3!🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Mehso-so

Robert Burns‘s poetry and songs.

A delightful collection that really showcase the author‘s love for his country‘s landscape and history, and people. So many poems lovingly describing people he knew. I need to find some of these read out loud. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

Once, there was a knight. Then, there was a scholar documenting the knight‘s legends many years later. The 2 stories aren‘t supposed to meet, until a mysterious book arrives in the scholar‘s lap.

WTF was this book. A love story, Arthurian vibes, a time loop, a tale about the power of stories, what makes a nation or a kingdom, & grasping your own destiny between your hands. This left me crying, & I want to read this again immediately.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

Jenny Greenteeth was just minding her business when the local town preacher decided a witch needed to be drowned in her lake. Suddenly, she‘s swept up in a great quest, a battle against unimaginable evil, & playing nice w/ the High Fae Court.

Probably my favorite book of the year so far. A rag tag group on an epic quest, the power of friendship, a real fairy tale feeling, & enough twists that I absolutely did not predict the ending.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕

RaeLovesToRead My friends and I did a vlog on this one! ^^ 5mo
RaeLovesToRead Also, we disagreed on whether the dog died. My reading was that he was called back to the court. A couple of the girls read it that he died, so I went back and read the passages and I stand by my first reading, I don't think he was meant to have died. Just left their party to return to his masters. Because he is magical / fae. 5mo

RaeLovesToRead I literally photographed the page and was like GUYS THIS DOG IS FINE, THEY'RE JUST GOING TO MISS HIM. Cavall belongs to the fae court! ❤️ 5mo

On the run from a controlling/abusive father, Lark finds refuge w/ humanity‘s greatest enemy. She‘s drafted to help protect the city w/ her magical control over fear from monsters. A romance, an enemy within, & an approaching army make finding a home more difficult.

I wanted to like this. The world building was interesting, but everything seemed so shallow. The romance, the magic, the people. I just wasn‘t invested in anything. 🌕🌕🌑🌑🌑

Before coffee, before Thune, before retirement, Viv is a mercenary waiting to heal while her band moves against a necromancer. Relaxing in a small sea side town should be easy, right?

I adored this prequel! Seeing Viv‘s backstory was lovely, Fern & her bookstore were a delight, & Satchel was hilarious. It felt a little too quickly resolved, & the epilogue felt a bit sequel bait, but overall I really enjoyed this! Even the romance! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

To save his family‘s business, Matti is ready to marry a woman he doesn‘t love. Hiring a swordsman to act as his best man for the wedding may create as many problems as it solves.

A really lovely historical romantasy. Matti‘s dedication to his family broke my heart, & I loved the development both in him & in the love story. It is very slow, & I think The Last Binding series is stronger narratively, but the tension is good & paced well.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

What if it‘s not a prince that rescues Rapunzel, but Jack after his Beanstalk adventures? Together they must face faeries, monsters, & secrets to learn the truth of Rapunzel‘s past & save Jack‘s sister.

This was delightful, if a bit long. It gave me big Gail Carson Levine vibes. There are wonderful little references (Andrew Lang‘s fairy books!) throughout a powerful story about the loss of innocence, standing up for yourself, & family.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Fiction and non fiction collected from Marina Keegan‘s published works after her untimely death.

This was lovely. Her nonfiction essays were stronger for me, and I desperately wish more of her poetry was included. Her voice is compassionate and attentive. And I wish we could have seen what she would have done. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
