What a fun book! Claudia starts working for a company that verifies the information provided by people in online dating profiles. A client who wants to verify more than one person disappears and a new mystery is afoot. I really liked this! I almost skipped out on it and I‘m so glad I gave it a try. It manages to be lighthearted and whimsical in places while also being meaty.
I‘d bought this for my cousin‘s daughter last Christmas and decided to give it read myself. It is really good!
Amari‘s brother Quentin is missing and she just got expelled from school. A new summer “leadership” program provides an entry to a surprising supernatural world. Amari must find her place in it.
It‘s a middle grade book - probably a little too advanced for an 8 yr old? 🤷🏾♀️ But it‘s still a good read-aloud story.

Found this while inventorying our books featuring characters with disabilities. It‘s not overly sentimental or explanatory. It‘s just a story about a kid with autism, his sister & a maybe new friend.
Crying, crying, crying so much. This book was gorgeous and just, lots of feels. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is just a great cozy mystery. And, it‘s gay and I will always advocate for gay. First off, the main character‘s personal drama is not annoying to me; her inner monologue is realistic & chaotically endearing. The mystery itself is interesting (dating apps & data mining) & the murder(s)—even more thoughtful in their unraveling. It‘s playful but still respectful; intellectual but fundamentally romantic & contradicting. It‘s a book about people.
This is the second time I've tried with this book. The first time I gave up faster. This time, well I just don't want to pick it back up. I don't know if anyone else felt this way but the sibling who's focused on for the first bit at least, Simon, just irritates the hell out of me. I'm sure the focus will change but I guess my brain isn't willing to sit through it.
I'm excited, this got nominated for the 2023 Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award. #WCCPBA #underthedustcover
