#readingslumps #help #reading

Laughterhp I usually reread something that I know I‘ll love. Or I‘ll read a book I know will suck me in, like romance novels. 4y
HannaPolkadots If you like Gilmore Girls, I recommend watching some episodes from the earlier seasons. That always makes me want to read 🤩 4y
wanderinglynn I do the same as @Laughterhp, reread old faves or read lighthearted, funny books. 4y

coffeewithbooks Thank you all . 4y
charl08 Try a graphic novel or a book with lots of images about something you love: gardening, crafting, a particular place. And try not to stress about it, the books will still be there when you are ready. 4y
Wonderwoman89 I am in the same boat. 4y
bookaholic1 I either listen to books or just go to a bookstore.. 4y

#HumpDayPost
1) Made edible cookie dough (no 🥚) for the first time. I also baked these delicious brownies I hadn‘t made in a while.
2) Avoiding work
3) Anytime. But regularly before bed and anytime I have to wait in a line.
4) I smile and wave when I see them but I have no idea of any of their names.
5) #ReadingSlumps are usually solved by re-reading and old favorite or reading something short like a novella.

Maybe this cloudy, chilly day will motivate me to read. Or the fact that this is due at the library in a few days may be motivation enough 😬 #readingslumps are the worst.

Chelleo Waiting for my audiobook hold to come in so I can read along with my hard copy. 6y
Tameeka @Chelleo Oooo that sounds like a great idea 💡 It was hard for me to finish at 500 pages but I did! An audiobook may have kept me motivated. Can't wait to hear what you think about it! 6y

Maybe some #JunkFoodForTheBrain will help me find the joy again. I hate #ReadingSlumps ... #GregIles #TheQuietGame

Steppenwolf | Hermann Hesse

I want to read, but...

I really love reading. However, sometimes I can't find my inspiration for reading. It usually happens after I finish some book which I didn't like, and then I am stuck with another one.
Several days ago I read This Savage Song and I didn't like it, then I re-read Steppenwolf though I love that book, I couldn't find myself enjoying. What is going on?

Q: Anyone with the same problem? Any kind of help is welcome!

Redy2trvl I've gone through this several times. In years past, have gone months without reading. Now, I find if I'm in a big slump or have that "I don't want to read at all" feeling, I head to the bookstore. Even if my TBR stack is piled high, I go there for inspiration. Sometimes you need a new "little black dress" to give you a jolt and a little pep in your step. Hang in there. ? 7y
Cinfhen I like your analogy @Redy2trvl ‼️‼️#ReadingSlumps are the worse 😩I find mindless thrillers or easy #PaletteCleansers usually do the trick! This was a gripping thriller...Have you read 7y
CareBear I also find reading something completely different from what I usually read can kickstart my reading again. 7y

Notafraidofwords I listen to bookish podcast and it usually gets me out of it. 7y
KrystleTheBookSlayer Yes, that actually happens to me quite a bit, but I'm lucky because my current job allows me to read when it's quiet, which I do or else I get really bored throughout my shift. It kind of forces me out of my reading slump. Sometimes I will choose quick/easy reads, so it's not too much of a commitment when I'm in my slump. 7y
Blaire I have some go tos for slumps. Either a series I know I love - jack reacher, inspector gamache, an Agatha Christie. Or a fave children's literature book. Something I know is quick to get into and will only take a day or so to read. 7y
dylanisreading I do the same as @Notafraidofwords - reminds me how many books are out there waiting to be read. 7y
