We had our monthly meeting of the #OmnivorousBookClub tonight 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! Held at one of our branches, we always get a great turn-out from patrons. Tonight‘s theme was “Books Set in Pennsylvania”! Mine was the tagged book and “Imaginary Friend”, the former set in the eastern part of the state, and the latter set in the western part.

#LitsyLovesLibraries

Scochrane26 My library does a traditional book club that I attend monthly. Then, they do Books & Bites, but I usually can‘t attend because of work (it‘s during the day). They make a podcast for that one, too. They talk about books along a theme & share recipes that go along w/ each book. 4y
night_shift I'm reading this now for a bookclub, too 😀 4y
MrBook @Scochrane26 How cool!!! What‘s the podcast‘s name? 4y

Scochrane26 @mrbook books and bites. It‘s by the Jessamine county library in KY. I usually listen to it because I can‘t go to the meeting. 4y
MrBook @Scochrane26 Thanks! I‘ll definitely be checking it out. 😁 4y
MrBook @Scochrane26 Ah! They do beverage pairings. I do that with my book reviews. 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 4y

#BookNDinner! Lay-over until my #OmnivorousBookClub meeting this evening 😁. #NationalGrilledCheeseDay Edition! Accompaniment this warm and bright evening: cheddar & provolone grilled cheese sandwich with bacon, fries, and unsweetened iced tea. MMMmmmm 😋! Happy reads & happy eats! 😎👌🏻

BookBabe 😁🙌🏻😋 6y
Velvetfur Nommm! Reminds me of that funny pic - "there's too much cheese on that" said no one ever ? 6y

Today was our monthly meeting of the #OmnivorousBookClub at one of our branches ???????! The flu and ice have laid low a lot of members, but a few us managed to attend and others sent their "book reports", lol. This months' theme: Comfort Food. Mine was Fried Green Tomatoes, one of my all-time favorite books--read it a handful of times. The cookies were made from a recipe in "Voracious". A wonderful time was had ?! #LitsyLovesLibraries

Traveler13 I love this book. I wish she was still writing her blog though 6y

Tonight we had our library's #OmnivorousBookClub meeting 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! This month's theme was picked by me ☺️: books about books. Some of us read the same books, lol! I tagged Parnassus because one of our members read that one from Project Gutenberg, and now @BookBabe and I really want to read that one! It was published 100 years ago! Any titles stand out to you?

Christyco125 I loved Mr Penumbra's 7y
Kaitlyn.keith.529 Fahrenheit 451 is really good 👍🏼 I finished it earlier this month 7y
mcctrish Book Lust is the only one I haven't read, what was the verdict? 7y

UwannaPublishme All of them! 😍🙌🏻 7y
erzascarletbookgasm I've only read AJ Fikry and Mr Penumbra, liked them very much. Fahrenheit 451 and the tagged book on my TBR. 7y
lauralovesbooks1 I have Parnassus, just haven't read it yet. I got it when I got to spend a couple of hours at Powell's when I was on vacation. :) 7y
LisaJo Parnassus on Wheels is a really fun book to read. It's very short, novella. But delightful. 7y
Lreads Farenheit 451 FTW! 7y
BookNAround Love Parnassus on Wheels! The sequel, The Haunted Bookshop, is good too. One of my all time faves for this theme is 84 Charing Cross Road. 7y
anored I loved Mr. Penumbra and Book Lust. mcctrish, Book Lust is by Nancy Pearl, who has a show on NPR. She gives brief synopses of books, often by category. 7y
britt_brooke I loved Mr. Penumbra and Fahrenheit 451. I thought AJ Fikry was just ok. Bookshop on the Corner and Parnassus on Wheels are both purchased and patiently waiting for me to crack them open! 7y

Most of the books that were brought to the #OmnivorousBookClub last night, with most of the treats as well 😋. A two-hour discussion on our recent horror reads made for a great night. Great group of readers! (The center pan has Lucky Charms treats, which were gooey and delectable!) Do you belong to any bookclubs that have everyone bring a different book?

andreadmw I run a bookclub at work where we just all discuss the books we've each read that past month and give each other recommendations. 8y
TheLondonBookworm The only way to buy lucky charms here is at over a fiver a box- this makes me endlessly sad :( 8y
kspenmoll Great idea! 8y

Kirstin Sounds like a fun way to get book recs! Don't you want to discuss your book with others who have read it though? 8y
Kitta Sounds like fun! You need to give me a run down of all your books clubs at some point 😂 8y
Sweettartlaura Yep, the No Book Book Club (bring 2 books you want to talk about - love 'em or hate 'em) 8y
quirkyreader I'm not part of one but I have heard about the Silent Reading Book Club. 8y
StellaDz The book club I'm in has actually just revamped to be a 'read what what you want' but we have decided to regulate it a bit and choose a genre per month. Our first month trying it will be our next meeting so I'm excited to hear about other successful meetings/clubs that do it! 8y
Faibka That's such a great idea! Need to find more book lovers in my area 😔 nice picture by the way :) would've love to hear the comments on Bird Box! 8y
MrBook @andreadmw Ooh, that sounds fun, never a dull moment 😊👍🏻! @TheLondonBookworm When I visited your most excellent country, I went into a supermarket in Bristol, and I was fascinated at the differences with my country. You need more cereal over there for starters, and tater tots, and Hershey's 😁! @kspenmoll It works out well 😊👍🏻! @Kirstin Exactly ☺️🙌🏻! @Kitta 😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! Do you really though 😜? 8y
MrBook @Sweettartlaura Why does that one sound familiar to me 🤔? @quirkyreader That sounds ridiculous 😆😜!! @StellaDz Yes! That's what we do 😊. Last month was adventure and the month before was biography. @Faibka It's okay *pat on the back*. They're out there! Have you tried meetup.com? 8y
StellaDz @MrBook nice! For our first meeting we our keeping it broad and doing anything Halloween/scary. I've read a couple and am currently working on my big read Anno Dracula The Bloody Red Baron by Kim Newman. 8y
MrBook @StellaDz Nice 😊👍🏻! 8y
Ruri_kaichou There was a documentary that I watched last year called... Book Club? It's on Hulu. But it's about a group of women who had their book club go on for 60 years! And they did exactly that. They meet every month and talked and swapped books. Super cute! 8y
Daisey I love the idea of this kind of book club! I always have such a TBR and don't tend to buy a lot of books, so it's hard for me to acquire and make time for a specific book at a specific time. 📚 Just talking books sounds perfect. 😃 8y
MrBook @Ruri_kaichou Oh, wow!!!! That is so cool! @Daisey 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻🙌🏻! 8y
Yournewfriendsams A BYOB book club is a great idea 💡 might have to steal it 😏 How many book clubs are you and @BookBabe a part of, you reading machines!! 8y
LitsyGoesPostal 😊👍🏻 8y
andreadmw @Kirstin in my group, we will take each other's recommendations, so a book you brought on October, 1 or 2 people might read then you have that discussion in November/December or even if it happens later. There are some authors we all love equally, so when a new Mary Roach or Diana Gabaldon come out, pretty much everyone reads it that month so we all discuss it. 8y
MrBook @Yournewfriendsams 😉👍🏻! I think eight 😂👏🏻. @andreadmw Nice 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻!!! We have a Christmas Book Grab Bag for December meetings, and then innJanuary everyone discusses the book they got 😊. 8y
andreadmw I love that idea!! I think I'm going to take it if you don't mind @MrBook 8y
Kirstin Sounds fun @andreadmw ! 👍 8y
Faibka @MrBook Yes, I found one, thanks! 😄 8y
MrBook @andreadmw By all means ☺️👌🏻. @Faibka WOOHOO 😁👏🏻🙌🏻!!! Which one? I'll look it up too ☺️. 8y
