Next up in #MissionReadAllTheLibraryBooks
All these three are due back shortly and can't be renewed 😬 I also want to read the play Our Town before reading Tom Lake.
I might just return Razor Blade Tears unread for now, as I need a revenge story for next year's #52BooksIn52Weeks challenge.

Bookzombie He is also June 2024‘s #authoramonth pick if you participate in that one. 🙂 5mo
Leniverse @Bookzombie Ooh, I haven't been, but I should take a look at that. 5mo

I managed to return some books in the nick of time and rescue the three books the library had withheld. 😅 Currently I have these 14, with another 6 on hold but only 2 of them are remotely likely to come in anytime soon.
First up -The 7 Moons, because I have to return that in 4 days.

Ruthiella Awesome haul. Just makes me want to quit my job and read ALL the books. 😆 5mo

I had a bunch of library holds come in and it turns out that their 15 book limit is absolute. So I had to leave three books behind for the time being. 😫 It's probably good that they are cutting me off tbh 😆 Clearly it's time for another round of #MissionReadAllTheLibraryBooks Or at least 3 of them.

I have some big ongoing reads, but for expediency I've dug out the three shortest books. Now, how fast can I get through them? Ready, set, read!

wanderinglynn 15 book limit? That seems unfair especially since you have no control over when a hold comes in. 6mo
Leniverse @wanderinglynn Right?! My previous library had a 20 book limit, but they would override it if you picked up a bunch of graphic novels or something that would put you over the limit. 6mo
IndoorDame Wow 15 seems harsh! I don‘t know that my library actually has a limit. If so it‘s crazy high since a lot of teachers I know use it for unit research, and I used to get dozens of picture books pretty regularly when I was teaching preschool aged kids… 6mo
rubyslippersreads I think there should be an exception for Littens. Fifteen books is nothing for us! 🤣 6mo

Moving Day is upon us and #MissionReadAllTheLibraryBooks has come to an end. Because getting ready to move is ridiculously time and energy consuming the mission was only a partial success. The books on the left I have completed, the books on the right are being returned unread. But fear not! All of those are available in my new location. I checked. 😅

rockpools Good luck! I‘m v excited for you. 9mo
Leniverse @rockpools Thank you, it's an adventure! 9mo
TrishB It was a good try 👍🏻 best wishes in your new home ♥️ 9mo

No. Wtf? 200p of nature musings and info about the behaviour of bonobos, interspaced with on-the-nose metaphors about fog and fungi, a vaguely menacing mood, delusions, the juxtaposition of how we create synthetic patterns to make sense of the world but miss the hidden connections in nature. Then 100p of sudden action, death, trauma, grief, mundane explanations Vs possible paranoia. And then a non ending (I can infer, but I'm not impressed). 😒

RaeLovesToRead 😅🤣 9mo
TrishB No thank you. 9mo
batsy This actually sounds great when you put it like that! 😆 9mo
Leniverse @batsy 😂 Go for it. It just wasn't for me. Clearly others like his style because his latest book was longlisted for the Booker. 9mo

175 pages in this book seems to me to be 70% nature description and/or philosophising/angsting about the immediate environment, 25% describing and angsting about the characters' inner life, and 5% fungus analogy/plot. I don't entirely hate it, but I'm getting impatient.

Pickpick

This was funny, sweet, entertaining, and even though the main character annoyed me at times, very bingeable. Thank you #CampLitsy I would have never chosen this book on my own but it turned out to be the perfect light summer read.
(Will it go on my Best of 2023 list if I make one? No.
Will I remember it a year from now? Doubtful.
Did I thoroughly enjoy it? Absolutely.)

squirrelbrain Yay! Glad you enjoyed it and love your review. 9mo

Pickpick

While the other 3 books in the series are stand-alones, Summer is the continuation of the previous seasons. It brings together characters from the other books and also links them in ways that the reader will discover but the characters themselves remain ignorant of. This is clearly meant to show how we are all connected even though the country is divided, and it does stretch the ability to suspend disbelief. But I enjoyed revisiting the characters

#MissionReadAllTheLibraryBooks is progressing.

2 Read: The Final Girl Support Club, In The Lives of Puppets

2 will be returned unread, Trust because I bought it for 99p on Kindle, Empire of the Vampire because it is the first in a series and book two isn't even out until next year

Progress on Lonesome Dove: 458/843 pages.
8 other books remaining.

#20in4 goal: As much as I can manage.

squirrelbrain Doing well! 👍 9mo
vivastory I am on the same mission 9mo
TrishB Empire is great though 😁 9mo
Leniverse @TrishB I definitely want to read it! But I also hate having to wait for sequels once I start a series, so I'm ok postponing book 1. 😆 9mo
TrishB I‘ll definitely have to do a recap when no2 gets here! 9mo

In approx 3 weeks I'm moving to a different library area and all these books must be returned. Ideally after I read them. I'm currently in p.300/843 of Lonesome Dove and haven't started any of the others. 😬 I might have to prioritise. 😣
(I have cancelled my remaining holds so nothing will be added to this stack)
#MissionReadAllTheLibraryBooks starts now. Because that hashtag is as chunky as my book stack 😂

Leniverse Trust is 99p on Kindle, so maybe I should just buy it 🤔 On the other hand it's one of the shorter books in my pile and might read quickly? Does it? 😅 9mo
rockpools How exciting! Could you pop down to your new library area, get your new card, and start reserving books now, to help you prioritise? 🫣 (helpful as always 🙃) 9mo
Leniverse @rockpools 😂 Maybe? I can at least check their library catalogue online to see which books they might have on the shelf. 🤔 9mo

squirrelbrain Oh no - what a nightmare! 🤪 9mo
BookwormM You have some good choices there Puppets is great. Empire is first in series so you might want to leave that couldn‘t make out the Hendrix title but they are normally solid reads 9mo
Leniverse @BookwormM The Hendrix is The Final Girl Support Club. I have a feeling that and Puppets will be fast reads. I might do them first so I build up some momentum. 9mo
Leniverse @squirrelbrain It is, kinda 😂 I mean, I'm not moving so far I couldn't come back on the train to return the books, but I have enough books to pack as it is. 😅 And it looks like I can get most of them at the new library, although several of them already have holds. But I just hate returning books unread. 😣 9mo
DivineDiana I feel your pain. Cheering you on! 📣 9mo
