This was another light romance listen. I was quite amused through the first half and unsurprised by the difficulty caused by lack of communication later. Of course, it all works out in the end.

Sharpeipup I thought that was an interesting twist 2d
Daisey @Sharpeipup I agree, the reason for it all was an interesting twist. 2d

140,000 Chinese men formed the French & British Chinese Labor Corps during WWI. The British headquarters were in Noyelles-Sur-Mer, France because it was by a railroad line as well as near a forest, which was an important source of timber. During & after the war, these men repaired railway lines, tanks, cleaned up battlefields, dead bodies, and the rubble from devastated towns. #NeverForget #LitsyBookClub

This was a great listen that describes the experiences of the first six American women to be astronauts - Sally Ride, Judy Resnik, Anna Fisher, Kathy Sullivan, Shannon Lucid, and Rhea Seddon.

Great storytelling by Janie Chang. I didn‘t know the Allies during WWI used Chinese men as labor in Europe to quickly rebuild trains, cannons, tanks, railways destroyed by the Germans.
( St Sulpice in Paris) #litsybookclub

Suet624 I didn‘t know that either! 3w
tpixie @Suet624 the Chinese were paid, but due to language barriers, weren‘t treated well. It‘s the background of this story. I‘m looking forward to reading her book she wrote with Kate Quinn. (edited) 3w

I enjoyed this historical novel set in WWI France. Pauline is a Chinese woman who came to Paris to work with her uncle in a store selling Chinese goods and antiquities. Camille is a French woman living in the French countryside near the headquarters of the Chinese Labour Corps. Their lives are brought together by Theo, Pauline‘s cousin, serving as a Chinese interpreter.

March was a busy month for me, and I only finished 5 books. However, that included Evelina, The Brothers Karamazov, and The Silmarillion, which are all pretty long and/or in-depth reads. My favorite this month was absolutely rereading The Silmarillion. I‘m also thoroughly enjoying slowly making my way through The Complete Sherlock Holmes. Orlando is currently paused/in hibernation.

Daisey I forgot to include The Porcelain Moon in my current reads. I‘m really enjoying this #LitsyBookClub pick. 1mo

I flew through this and loved it. Maybe it wasn‘t *perfect* but it‘ll sit there in my brain for a long time, and what more can I really ask for…

(& another solid pick from @AardvarkBookClub 🎉)
