Another great Kate Burkholder story! This is the 14th and it‘s exciting that I‘ll be up-to-date with them soon as this author is still releasing them. This case involves Kate traveling to Pennsylvania to prove the innocence of someone special from her past. I enjoyed the flashbacks into Kate‘s relationship with Jonas Bowman, and I was not surprised at all to find that Kate continues to put herself in harm‘s way without backup or her firearm!

There was a total eclipse last night with a blood moon. I couldn‘t see it from where I am but found this gorgeous picture on the internet. The Eiffel Tower is a bit more picturesque than where I am anyway 😆.

#13 in the series. These books are so consistently good. The opening scene is the brutal murder of an ex-Amish woman, one that Kate knows from back when she used to be part of the Amish community.

I thought things were wrapping up when the investigation took a wild left turn, which kept me on my toes. I wish Kate didn‘t always put herself in dangerous circumstances-I think her propensity for danger gets a little old. But I do love this series.

Reread! I have now read all of the Kate Burkholder Series, except her new one, Rage. I listened to The Burning this time, the first time I read it. Still really enjoyed it. Castillo writes such good books.

An Evil Heart: A Novel | Linda Castillo

An Evil Heart is sit in the small town of Planters Mill, Ohio. The 15th installment of the Kate Burkholder Series by Linda Castillo sees Kate Burkholder facing her most guersome murder, yet. A young Amish man is killed with a crossbow. The wound is something the corner has only seen once before, and that was an accidental shooting of a foot. Who would want to kill an Amish man like that?

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read suspect the culprit until right at the end. I love this series, and it amazes me that Castillo can still keep it fresh and new. Burkholder has grown so much since the first book. All the characters have grown along with her. I was glad that Tomasetti and her are finally tying the knot. I highly recommend this series. Though these books can be read as stand-alones, I suggest reading them in order so that you can get to know all the characters.

Hallowed Ground is a novella by Linda Castillo in the Kate Burkholder Series. I think this would make a perfect read for October, around Halloween. Kate Burkholder is called to an Amish farm where a dog has come up with a human bone. Her and Tomasetti are soon staking out an old cemetery.

A quick novella in the Kate Burkholder Series by Linda Castillo. It's a dark, foggy night, and Kate gets called out. An Amish man has been attacked by an animal. Before she knows it, there are 2 other attacks. One at a farm, and the other 2 little Amish boys out fishing at night. What kind of animal could it. 4⭐️

It's hard to believe that Fallen is Linda Castillo's 13th book in the Kate Burkholder Series. Castillo still manages to captivate me. I did figure out the culprit before the end, so I dropped 1/2 star for that.
Kate Burkholder is the Police Chief of Planters Mill, Ohio. She gets called to the scene of a homicide. Burkholder realizes she knows the victim. She babysat Rachel Swartz when Rachel was 6 and Burkholder 14.

MonicaLoves2Read They have a thing in common. They both left the Amish way when they were teenagers. Burkholder now has to figure out who and why Rachel was killed.

Castillo continues to grow not only Burkholder but all the minor characters as well. I have seen her gang of police develop over the 13 books and learned more about them. I highly recommend this series. Though they can be read as stand-alones, I suggest you start at the beginning. That way, you can see how Castillo has grown Burkholder, as well as the other characters in the series.

A quick novella by Linda Castillo. Disappeared has Kate Burkholder looking for a 2 year old that went missing during the night. I continue to love this series, which is a look at the Amish life and a Police Chief that left that way of life. I can't recommend this series enough.
