Pickpick

A 17-year-old girl lies about an attempted assault. She doesn‘t do it with ill intentions, somehow gets sucked into the lie&her life after the lie changes so positively that she feels she can‘t say the truth. She‘s the main liar in the novel, but all characters lie. Some lies are bigger, some smaller.Wonderful thought-provoking book, builds tension until the end, provides insight into the psychology of humans, raises questions of moralsðics.

In the beginning of reading this book by a noted Israeli author, I thought I wouldn‘t like this story because of the disagreeable main character. He‘s sort of growing on me, though. Maybe because of his grouchiness! 😄

#Alphabetgame #LetterT @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Amos Oz gives us a life and a story of Israel, in fascinating and tragic ways.

Other T‘s:

The Tempest-Shakespeare
Their Eyes Were Watching God-Zora Neale Hurston
A Train in Winter-Caroline Moorehead
The Trophies of Time: English Antiquarians of the Seventeenth Century-Graham Parry (if this title interests, this book is everything that title promises. It‘s terrific.)

SqueakyChu I loved this book!! However, I have been reading and enjoying books by Amos Oz since I lived in Israel in the 1970s. He‘s one of my favorite authors. 2y
Graywacke @SqueakyChu i love Oz. I‘m hoping to slowly work through his books. I‘ve read… 🤔… I think only 4 so far. 2y

I enjoyed these quirky and often strange stories. However, most of them were very brief and felt like vignettes rather than actual stories, leaving me feeling somewhat unsatisfied with them..

Second book finished for the #AwesomeApril readathon! @Andrew65

I just came across this book which I received from a member of #LibraryThing over ten years ago! I thought it was about time to read it so I began it today for a LibraryThing challenge to read a book by an #Israeli or Palestinian author.

Ugh!! This book is making me so uncomfortable. The writing is good but the subjects, which include repugnant moral choices, unwise sexual attractions, and unquestionably arrogant behavior, make this novel unbelievably hard to read. I have a feeling that my tension is not going to disappear any time soon, but I‘m only midway through this book! 😳

TEArificbooks I would dnf it 2y
SqueakyChu @mdm139 Not a chance! I have to see what happens! 2y
SqueakyChu @mdm139 This is an #Israeli author I‘ve never read before. I‘m reading this book for a challenge on #LibraryThing to read a book by an Israeli or Palestinian author. 2y
