Reading the chapter about intersectional feminism before the term was coined.
“To experience the pain of race hatred or to witness that pain is not to understand it‘s origin, evolution, or impact on world history.”

🚨🚨🚨
“To be an oppressor is dehumanizing and anti-human in nature, as it is to be a victim. [...] it teaches our blood brothers to feel ashamed that they care for us, and denies all men the emotional life that would act as a humanizing, self-affirming force in third lives.”

Best description why patriarchy is bad for EVERYONE I think I‘ve read?!

"Maintaining the capacity for joy is critical to the struggle for justice."

Absolutely powerful and important book. Brittney Cooper focuses on feminism, faith, friendship, and the real-life effects of living in a white patriarchy. The chapter about her father and her parents' relationship was especially moving to me.

A very #diverse and #intersectional novel. Alice is #black, #bisexual, and #asexual. There‘s a big age gap between her and her siblings, and her parents and siblings keep trying to run her life. Alice just wants to be Alice, loved, accepted, and understood for just being her. Luckily, she‘s got a couple of great friends, a new counselor, and there‘s a new employee at the #library who just might be the one to accept her as she is. A sweet read.

On vacation I decided to challenge myself with #twobooksoneday... turns out I picked some really heavy material! **TW for both of these titles, they cover some heavy topics around mental health, self harm, and abuse** Both were written in a very poetic style, and I still can‘t decide if I liked either one. Drop your thoughts below, would love to hear some opinions! #woc #authorsofcolor #intersectional

TieDyeDude I never read anything like Heart Berries, and I was very impressed. It was heavy, but I loved it. 6y

Our feminism is nothing if it not intersectional.
