“This cat, on the other hand, was its own animal. All cats give that #impression, of course, but instead of the mindless animal self-absorption that passes for secret wisdom in the creatures, Greebo radiated genuine intelligence. He also radiated a smell that would have knocked over a wall and caused sinus trouble in a dead fox.” Paul Kidby illustration. #QuotsyJuly19

“Like I said, basements usually smell like surrealism. But kitchens and gardens almost always smell like impressionism. Because our kitchen is part of a basement apartment, it smells like the early impressionism of Vincent Van Gogh - all big strokes of umber and ochre - a peppery greasy I-love-you smell.”

Love this from Pinterest.
Couldn‘t agree more, it is usually covers that pull me to a book.

suzie.reads I'm weird I don't care about covers 😂 It's all about the initial few lines of a blurb for me, they have to get me hooked 🎣 5y
Megabooks Me too! 5y
jenniferw88 Yes, but if a review mentions the word 'Gothic' then that is also an auto-add to the tbr pile for me. 5y

Andrew65 I‘m terrible about not wanting to read the blurb as I don‘t want to spoil the story. Usually go on reviews, recommendations, covers and similar authors or genre. @suzie.reads @Megabooks @jenniferw88 5y
suzie.reads I blame my job 😂 Constantly telling children not to judge a book by its cover and to read the blurb. 5y
Andrew65 @suzie.reads True, I say that to them too. But obviously don‘t live by my own statements! 😂 5y
Caroline2 Yep I totally agree. I can ignore a crappy cover if it‘s been recommended to me tho. 5y
Andrew65 @Caroline2 Yes, Agree. Some books do have awful covers but some other covers tell you the type of book it is going to be. Usually right but not always. 5y
BooknerdsLife I‘m afraid this is true! 😆 Gorgeous covers always get my attention first, especially if it‘s from a new writer. But the blurb of the books is the key to lure me in 🤗 5y
