While everyone had bits they didn‘t love about this (little character development, holes in the plot, etc), I was the sole panner at #GirlyBookClub. Can‘t help it a I just don‘t like a ghost story.

TheBookAddict 🤔 I may to read it. I enjoy ghost stories. Sorry you didn‘t like it. 2w
janeycanuck @TheBookAddict Eh, not every book can be for every reader! 2w

What a weird day - it felt like 35° with the humidex and it‘s October 1. In Canada. And then it clouded over and the skies opened and we had the loudest thunderstorm we‘ve had in ages. Anyway. Focusing on the weather helps me forget how many books I‘ve got leftover from September - those, my #GirlyBookClub book, my #MummyDaughterBookClub book and four more #readmyowndamnbooks books are my #OctoberTBR.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks It‘s still high 90‘s here!! 🥵🥵 2mo
janeycanuck @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks whaaaa?? That‘s nuts. The temp has been falling steadily here, we‘re going to get down to 13 today, which is more normal for us. Hope you get some relief soon!! 2mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Oh wow!!! Our high today is 96 and low is 70!!! 2mo

A hit with my Guelph #GirlyBookClub crowd. This was such a heartbreaking story. It did take a while to get into but once I did, I couldn‘t stop reading.

I feel like I did okay with my reading in August, yet somehow, my #SeptemberTBR feels twice as large? I‘ve got five of my #14books14weeks reads that I didn‘t get to, my #GirlyBookClub book, a couple of books in-progress, a bunch of previous TBRs and I‘ve added four more books for my never-ending quest to #readmyowndamnbooks

Mehso-so

The book was a so-so (I‘m just not into short stories) but as always, the conversation at last night‘s #GirlyBookClub was great!

marleed I read this this year. I don‘t remember it - that‘s my problem with short stories. I need to develop a different way to absorb them. 3mo
janeycanuck @marleed I think short stories are something you need to dip in and out of, reading only one at a time. I like to immerse myself more and a story is done just as I‘m really starting to sink into it. 3mo

I would not have finished this if it wasn‘t for the book club conversation that I have to lead. The less said about it, the better... pun intended. #GirlyBookClub

rwmg Oh dear, that sounds ominous. It's on my virtual TBR shelf. 4mo

What the heck happened to all the time I thought I‘d have to read in June?! #JulyTBR is here - the left are the books in-progress and my July #GirlyBookClub read. The right is everything left over from June, including 3 #14books14weeks books, which I‘ve added 4 to in order to get back on track.

Anything here that I won‘t be able to put down once I start? I need a few “quick wins” to start this month off right.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I don‘t know what happened to June either! 5mo

tjwill I usually have trouble putting down Tana French‘s books, especially 5mo
janeycanuck @Nute I‘ve heard that... And I‘m really eager to listen to the podcast so I think it‘s gonna be next weekend‘s read. 5mo
janeycanuck @tjwill Ooh, excellent, thanks. I‘m in the middle of In The Woods right now so it would be the next one I pick up. 5mo
TheHeartlandBookFairy You've got this! Besides, sleep is overrated and reading is better lol ,😂❤️📚📖 4mo

Great discussion about Radium Girls at this week‘s #GirlyBookClub. This was such a compelling read and we were all fascinated by the tales of these women. It didn‘t feel like a 400-page book, which is always a sign of incredible writing.

britt_brooke This story is so sad and truly nuts. 💔 5mo
janeycanuck @britt_brooke When I made the restaurant reservation, the fellow asked what we read this month. I told him and he says “THAT‘S A TRUE STORY?!” and then said he needed to find the book immediately. 5mo
britt_brooke @janeycanuck It‘s totally a stranger than fiction situation. 5mo
MarriedtoMrT I loved this book! It was one of the first nonfiction titles I read (for pleasure as an adult). 5mo

This was a pick for me - but not so much for the other ladies in the Guelph #GirlyBookClub. I found it very emotional in the beginning and quite a compelling story.

OMG, my #JuneTBR is out of control. I may have to wipe the slate clean for July... but for now, I‘ve got 3 books in progress, my June #GirlyBookClub pick, 4 of my #14books14weeks selections, 4 new books in my quest to #readmyowndamnbooks and 10 leftover from last month. Yikes.
