#MayMoms Day 28: #Hilarious has been used to describe this book filled with acerbic wit - but I simply could not get into it, despite the psych allusions. I read this as part of our #DecolonizeBookshelves2022 reading theme, and I am relieved to have finished reading it. Undoubtedly it is an important novel, but the way it is told will be debated on by people more intelligent than me in years to come. More here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-opX

#MayMoms Day 26: There is something definitely #Iconic in the way motherhood and womanity are portrayed in this novel - canonical even. Part of the book list from This Is The Canon in our #DecolonizeBookshelves2022 reading theme.

AnneCecilie I must confess I‘m more interested in the cake. It looks delicious 1mo

#MayMoms Day 25: It is #Embarrassing that I have yet to read a Chinua Achebe book. I hope to get to this trilogy this year for our #DecolonizeBookshelves2022 reading theme.

Pickpick

#MayMoms Day 24: There is a story of a #Divorced Senegalese Muslim woman here along with a widowed first wife abandoned by her husband for the second younger wife. As noted in my review, I like that it is narrated in a crystal-clear voice that is emancipatory and filled with a resolute sense of self that can not be denied. The quote above also shows how women in a postcolonial Senegal were perceived. More here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-onY

#MayMoms Day 5: Perhaps chocolate crepe with vanilla ice cream and turkish coffee is quite #Unhealthy - but hey we are on a week-long holiday, so let‘s indulge! Book is part of our #DecolonizeBookshelves2022 reading theme and included in “This Is The Canon” booklist. 📚
