dabbe One of my Broadway faves! 🧡🎃🧡 6mo
CatLass007 I know this is an #UnpopularOpinion, but I don‘t think Andrew Lloyd Webber is all that great. Phantom is a spectacle with beautiful costumes, scenery, and special effects. I will give the composer credit for going back to the source material, the book by Gaston Leroux. It didn‘t try to recreate any of the films, and it was pretty faithful to the book. 6mo

#ThingsInCommon I like how these fantasy covers sort of mirror each other, in different time periods.

This is a slight collection of ephemera that only big fans of “The Queens Thief“ series can enjoy. I've read the series three times, and I still had to look characters up and didn't always grasp the significance of the vignettes. I was about equal parts happy, sad, and confused.

Pickpick

It‘s been awhile since I‘ve read anything. So I decided to visit the world of Narnia. What a great adventure! I absolutely love the classic fantasy books!

How do we feel about books being adapted - I think I‘m mostly slightly curious but fairly aloof...

I‘m kind of excited for French Exit but not enough to actually go to the cinema...

Ruthiella It depends on how invested I am in the source material. 🤔 Generally it can be fun to compare how something is adapted...note where they made changes, etc. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Sometimes a book doesn't catch my attention but the movie does, especially if 400 pages can be put into a 2 hour movie. I have room in my life for a bit of it all. If it's a book I loved, though, I worry. 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Ruthiella, level of investment is so true! I think the adaptations I‘ve enjoyed most are ones were I have like the book but it‘s not an all time favourite 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick, I‘ve let go of the idea of having to have read the book first - my book and movie tastes don‘t always align. 3y

Edmunds turn to enter Narnia where we meet the white witch for the first time.

“ I say, Lu! I‘m sorry I didn‘t believe you. I see now you were right all along. Do come out. Make it Pax”

Was there any one else who had to Google what pax meant 😅

Just in case It‘s Latin word meaning peace 🥰

#narniareadalong

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I had to Google it, too! I am tickled to now know why an IKEA wardrobe is named Pax. 3y
Powered_By_Plants @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick 😂 that‘s exactly what sprang to mind when I read it . Maybe its because it creates peace in your bedroom with all the extra storage 😁 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick That makes perfect sense. I love it! 3y
Powered_By_Plants @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I think Marie kondo would also agree 😁 3y

“This must be a simply enormous wardrobe!” Thought Lucy , going still further in and pushing the soft folds of coats aside to make room for her. Then she noticed something was crunching under her feet.

And so it begins 🤩 🦁

Having never read the books I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it jumps straight into the story . Not sure why but I was expecting long chapters 😄

CaffeineAndCandy This is my first time reading them as well. I was wondering why she didn't go and get her siblings when she found the wardrobe led to another world 3y
i.besteph Awesome! I‘m starting the series for the bookspin in March! I heard there are some really short chapters 😁 3y
Powered_By_Plants @CaffeineAndCandy definitely, it would be your immediate reaction. @I.be.Stef Ahh fab! I‘m looking forward to it too especially the stories in the series I‘m not familiar with 😍 3y
i.besteph @Powered_By_Plants absolutely! The movies are everything. I hope they did the books justice 😁😅 3y

When you are trying to stay in a positive mood and say “fuck” a little less at work, you find Bob‘s Burgers on Spotify and sing along and/or quote the episodes.

I had the house all to myself this weekend. In addition to getting in a good bit of reading, I had myself a mini marathon of the Halloween episodes from one of my favorite shows, Bob's Burgers. I love the Halloween episodes! The kids' creative costumes always make me laugh so hard.
That's 8 episodes for points for #Scareathlon2020!
