The Tin Woodman of Oz | L. Frank Baum
post image
Pickpick

Somebody points out to the Tin Man that he never reconnected with the girl whose love caused him to be chopped up and turned to tin. Time for an adventure! The usual random bizarre assortment of creatures and places await. I appreciated Baum explaining a bit of the history of Oz becoming a fairyland where no one dies, though as a mom I‘m horrified at the prospect of babies staying babies forever. Then again, if they can‘t die, maybe not so bad?

The tagged book is my first memory of loving a book. I still have my childhood copy. Unfortunately it shows some wear and that I possibly wasn‘t as kind to books as I am now 😢

@BookmarkTavern

SpeculativeFemale I have a lot of my childhood books that are quite literally falling apart. Unfortunately, even being careful, there are only so many times you can read a mass market paperback before time and use take their toll. 3d

Pippi of course!

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I didn‘t read Pippi until I was an adult but kid me was obsessed with “the new adventures of Pippi Longstocking” movie… watched it so much that I just about wore the VHS out. 3d
ravenlee @thegirlwiththelibrarybag me too! Except it was on Beta 😆. I had a fight with my older brother once when he called it a dubbed movie and I heard “dumb,” and it was the gravest insult imaginable. I flew at him, fists and feet flying, in defense of Pippi‘s honor. 3d
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @ravenlee, lol but also very valid! 3d

Fantastic Mr. Fox | Roald Dahl

Today was a real cluster cuss! But I did take the survey and scored 17/45. Here are three favorites based on the circumstances of watching or other associations.
1. Fantastic Mr. Fox - saw it during a meetup with a group of friends
2. ET - saw it with my mom the summer a new theater opened in her town
3. Remember the Titans - my niece attended TC Williams High School (which has since been renamed)

Read this book of poems with my daughter. She's said it was "Good" and that this is her favorite book! She thinks a lot of the poems are really silly-for example, plants talking to each other is funny.
I also read this a lot when I was a kid. Fun to revisit the poems with my daughter.

CatLass007 That sounds like a wonderful, memorable experience for both of you.🤎 1w

Yesterday we visited Lindsay's home and art studios. The cockatoos were enjoying the gardens!

CarolynM It‘s a beautiful & fascinating place. I loved my visit there. Are you a Lindsay fan? There‘s a room in the Ballarat Art Gallery that is a recreation of the sitting room of the Lindsays‘ family home in Creswick. 2w
Eggs Sounds like a great outing🐦💚🌳 2w
