The Work | Bri Lee

Starting on this one today. Went to see Bri speak about her debut novel last night. I have read two of her non-fiction books. Eggshell Skull is my favourite. #currentlyreading #ozfiction

CarolynM There was a really snarky review of this and also Louise Milligan‘s novel in the Age on the weekend. It made me wonder whether they are both bad (I knew @Jeg didn‘t like the Milligan) or if the reviewer‘s envy was showing. I look forward to seeing what you think of this one. 1d
LeeRHarry Have this on hold at the library - looking forward to your thoughts. 😊 1d
MrsMalaprop @CarolynM The ‘flavour‘ of a few reviews put me off a little, and made me decide not to choose it for book club. I will be sure to post a review when I‘m done @LeeRHarry. And I don‘t think it will take be long to finish as it‘s quite pacy! 1d
Jeg Will be interested to see what you think of this. I love her nonfiction. Louise Milligans was a disappointment and I do love her nonfiction. 1d

I am #currentlyreading this little book that has sat on my TBR shelves for many years. I think I was loaned it (oops) by someone when I did my country school psychology placement in the 90s. Has anyone heard of the author or her short stories?

She wrote this memoir in her early 40s, which seems too young to be feeling so tired. Although it was 1939 and no doubt women‘s lives were very different then…🤔

#bookreport & #weeklyforecast
#finished: I finished quite a number of books this past week, due in large part to #deweysreadathon that was held on Saturday and the fact that I had two book club meetings last week (finished my other book last week). Reviews of these books will be forthcoming this week.

#currentlyreading: still plugging away at The Kingdom and will be picking up The Essex Serpent again this week (just a really busy reading time)

melissajayne #upcomingreads: I am planning on starting The Women, Legends and Wolf Hall this coming week. I hope to try to combine my apartment cleaning/packing with my reading as much as possible.

Hope you all have a wonderful week of reading.📚

Back then, Beatrix liked to sit next to Mr. G when he rowed them all to the mainland.

My new at school read, although I‘m pretty sure I‘ll soon be invested enough that I‘ll be taking this book back and forth. It starts out with three men meeting each other on a foggy mountain and deciding to travel together. It‘s a McMurtry novel I‘d never heard of until a former student recommended it to me.

#finished: I finished A House in the Sky and really liked it (I will be posting a review in the next couple of days)

#currentlyreading: Read quite a bit this past week, as I spent the wee hours of Saturday morning finishing up A House in the Sky. I also spent quite a bit of Saturday reading The Kingdom, The Power, and The Glory and feel like this will need a reread at some point. I hope to either finish or continue

melissajayne reading the other books that I have in my currently reading pile, in addition to doing some more cleaning out of my apartment.

#upcomingreads: I have to read Fried Green Tomatoes for a book club meeting this week and judging by the chapters, I feel like it should be a fairly quick read. I do plan on working on Wolf Hall.

Happy reading 📚

SarahBookInterrupted I have had Wolf Hall on my bookshelf for 2 years. A friend gave it to me. It‘s so big and I just haven‘t started it because I‘m trying to determine if it will be a slow or quick read. My mother came for Christmas and read it in 3 days but she is an incredibly fast reader. She liked it, but that was all the insight I got. Are you finding it a quick engaging read or is it a slow read and I‘ll need some real time to get into it? 2w
melissajayne @SarahBookInterrupted I read it within the last ten years and I think it took me awhile to get through it, but mind you I am a slow reader. I found it to be a slower read, as there are a lot of characters that are written into the book (there is a character list that is several pages long). 2w
SarahBookInterrupted @melissajayne Thanks, that‘s what I thought. It might have to be a summer read for me when I have more time. I appreciate it! 1w

If Lucas is doing something, I have to be doing it, too, but better.

I‘m so excited that I finally made it over 1000 pages in my #currentlyreading!! I‘m at the point now where I absolutely can‘t stand having to put the book down or turn the audiobook off to do things like work my job, take a shower, or go to sleep. I‘d love to be able to finish IT this week!

My progress: page 1037/1477

Also: anyone else love reading in your car? I just love it for some reason 🤷🏻‍♀️

AmyG I enjoy it, too. Sort of like airplane reading. 2w
