This one feels similar to Mona Awad's Rouge but with less focus on grief and more on how privilege and racism inform beauty standards and how wealth can take a reasonable idea to an unreasonable extreme. I enjoyed the novel, but the story feels a little young, like it's lacking a layer of meaning that life experience might give it. Or maybe that was part of the point.
I did not know what `Glow Up' meant until I read this story

I think this author just isn‘t for me because I‘ve bailed on both books I‘ve tried. Oh well. #LitsyTOB24
I probably should have “Panned” this, but it had me intrigued for a while. I became less and less enamored and felt the ending meandered around, trying to find its way. You warned me, @BarbaraBB !

One of the first books I ever read on making a house a home. Growing up in a dysfunctional family, clutter and chaos was the norm. This book was life changing for twentysomething me. Rereading all these years later, I'm surprised at how many things are part of my routines. Yes, it's a bit dated and pretentious in places, but it taught me so much: seasonal eating, flowers in the house, and setting a pretty table. 🌸
