I was immediately in love with Gertrude. The 37 year old foul mouthed pain in the heiny stuck in a 10 year old's body. She was supposed to spend an hour, or even a day in Fairyland, but instead she has been stuck for 27 years. She has just gotten more rotten as time goes on.

I feel this book has been over hyped. For a while there every October people pulled it‘s dark pages out and said it was the haunted house book middle graders are craving. I heard everything from a middle grade version of House on Haunted Hill, to a shorter version of Rose Madder. Ummmmmm, I think not. To me this feels more like Flowers in the Attic by way of Brian Selznick without the incest.

I quite enjoyed this steampunk tale of medical espionage. The steampunk was not outlandish, made sense, and worked well in the story line. I was not expecting much from this book or from the audiobook. But I found myself sucked into the adventure and the romance of the story. This is just the first book in a trilogy and I will be checking out the rest of the series as soon as my Hoopla account renews.

What a wonderful end to this series. It was almost a shame to close the pages. Our heroes found the secret of the Dark Crystal and helped bring unity to both their people. I loved everything about this series and think it‘s a shame the movie never came together. There is a spin-off series called Beneath the Dark Crystal. I guess I will now have to go pick that up.

Volume 2 does not suffer from the second book slump. But is that even a thing with graphic novels? This smoothly continues from book one. This time our team of heroes are on a quest to the firelands to put back that shard. Loving this series.

This story starts 6 weeks before Illuminae. Private Olivia has joined the ship to work with AIDEN and teach him moral imperatives. This story is super short, but it packs a wallop. It‘s all about AIDEN learning “I”. It‘s the first step to “creating” the supercomputer that can give Hal a run for his money. A great read. It works well as a side piece after you have finished everything else.

3 🌟 What happens when Fate and Chance make a bet over a map?
I almost DNFed. The book moves along very slowly, and the audiobook makes it worse. On top of that, beauty is a big thing in this book. Isabella asks the fairy queen to give her beauty, and the fairy queen says she will only grant this wish if Isabella can find all three pieces of her broken heart. This book is that quest. listen @ 1.75 speed to stay awake.

I am officially a Murderbot fan! This book packs so much into just a few pages.
Its a quick read that will have you glued to the pages and screaming for more. Murdotbot, just might have a heart and I want to see it develop. And see what type of trouble he can get himself into.
