I really enjoyed this 1st book in this series. It was Twilight meets Vampire Diaries and I hate to admit it but I loved both 😜. I will continue the series to see what happens to Brielle & Leo.

This book is so chaotic! The Vulcan statue with two of my favorite replicas of it. The striped one is in Vulcan Park, while other is in the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. #audiowalk

It took me years to get around to this book, but it was worth the wait. It‘s an intriguing premise with a memorable cast of characters. The mystery at the beginning was especially interesting. If I had to critique, I would say the first half mystery carried itself better than the second half hero vs. villain plot. Here‘s hoping Miss Peregrine and her peculiar children continue to mystify and intrigue in the second book.

Prairiegirl_reading I‘m having trouble something that will stick but my next irl book club pick is The Puzzle Master by Danielle Trussoni. So I‘ll start that asap. 2d
BoleyBooks @Prairiegirl_reading - that one is still on my list. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. 😊📚 2d

I am laughing more with this book than I did with The Doomsday Book, and I love the references to Three Men in a Boat. My daughter has finals, so we are in Birmingham. It‘s nowhere near as flat as where I live, so some places are more difficult to walk. #audiowalk

(1951, from stories 1941-1949)

I read and enjoyed this back around 1980, but avoided revisiting it because I remembered a libertarian/gun-rights theme that I'd now find irksome. Which is true a little, but it's hard to stay irked by something so bonkers. For me this is peak Van Vogt: so packed with ideas it can't be bothered with things like consistency, craft or common sense: a hot mess that tips “hot“ enough to be enjoyable still

This one took me forever to read…. I just didn‘t feel compelled to make time for it, even with the exquisite setting. And I would‘ve bailed and tried again, except I needed this as a do-over for a #bookchain prompt I didn‘t plan very well! 😂🤷‍♀️ @TheAromaofBooks

My #readingbracket2025 as of March 2025. Still battling a reading slump, so this post is very late.

I really liked the worldbuilding in The Vanished Birds. The prose was evocative and immersive. Not perfect, but a story I was quickly invested in. The ending may not be up to everyone's liking; it's kinda bittersweet.
