I read Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry last year and I was so affected not only by the story, but by Ms. Taylor‘s words about it, that I decided to read the rest of the series. I read Mildred Taylor books when I was younger and fell in love with the Logan family. I decided to revisit the story when I saw this available from my library.

This book starts the Logan family story and gives the background information about how they obtain the land they all love so much. Wonderfully written book and I can't wait to continue on with the Logan family.
