A little slow in some parts, but still a sleuthing romp. Laurie agrees to take on a show for someone who she believes was wrongfully convicted. As she delves more deeply, she begins to believe her victim was really the murderer.

I really enjoyed this installment of the Under Suspicion series. Laurie investigates the murder of a prominent young man. His fiancée is released from prison after she served 15 years in prison for his death. She claims to be innocent, but even her family thinks she is guilty. Laurie works hard to find the truth. #MountTBR

I really wanted to make it to 24 hours this time, but instead life and illness got in the way! Oh well I‘m still happy with my weekend! And I‘m especially proud that I went the whole weekend without accidentally resetting my clock (that is a first for me!! 😂) #24in48
Another terrific installment from the Under Suspicion series. I have read so many MHC books that I know the formula and figured out whodunnit very early on but it was an enjoyable and fun mystery.
Indulging my urge with a caravan, a cup of tea and the gorgeous Gympie weather.

• Reading some more of this brilliant book whilst I try and warm up from Groceries. It is so cold out! Definitely autumn 🍂 I'm loving that I can wear jeans and snug sweaters again. #crimefiction #maryhigginsclark #booklover #bookstagram #bookblogger #bibliophile #met_createchange
• Has anyone read The Sleeping Beauty Killer? What do you think of the Under Suspicion series? I think the fairytale themes are wonderful and I want the Cinderella Murder immediately. Now, going offline for the night. Want to read and sleep ✨#maryhigginsclark #crimefiction #booklover #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #bookblogger #bibliophile #met_createchange
• Snuggling in bed to enjoy the last night of my holiday in comfort with a good book. I brought four whilst I was here and this is the last one I brought. I also have only finished one book whilst I was here (too much exploring to do instead!) I'm happy though and adored being here - I want to stay forever. ✨#crimefiction #maryhigginsclark #booklover #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #bookblogger #bibliophile #met_createchange
Despite some lower ratings for this one I did enjoy this although usually do enjoy books by Mary Higgins Clark. In this one I worked out who I thought the killer was, and for once was right. There was some good tension built up towards the end which I enjoyed. My only disappointment was the final bits where they rounded off people's lives and all seemed a bit too twee.
I was really surprised at the ending of who had done it.
I've been reading Mary Higgins Clark books since I was a teenager and sharing them with my mom. They're like a cup of hot cocoa under a warm blanket for me. I don't think this was the strongest of her and Alafair Burke's Under Suspicion series, but I liked how they mixed up the premise in this one.
This is on my Christmas wish list and although it's not a classic #fairytaleretelling I'm more of a mystery fan so it's as close as I get.

I've been reading MHC since I was a youngster. It's always nostalgic and brings me joy. Her mysteries might not be complex twists but they are a nice sorbet between other books. I really ❤️❤️❤️ her.
