Welcome to Litsy!

Today we ventured to the on-base library for the first time, and I now have cards to three different libraries! After exploring and checking out 17 of a possible 20 items we headed out - to stop by our neighborhood library for a pick-up/drop-off. Now to keep the stacks separate.

Oh, and at the new library we were asked to allow some publicity photos, and I can‘t think of anything more apt than kiddo and me being poster children for the library.

We currently have 77 items from the library, and the kiddo is determined to work her way through most of them today. Library #bookhaul

This was the library stack returned today! I think it was about 50 books. Then we checked out about 30 more. Then we went to the bookstore.

I think I might have a problem, and I‘m passing it on to my daughter. 😂

We had a busy day of errands today, led by my car being serviced for recall repairs. That led to an unscheduled library visit, without bringing our returns back. We have now maxed out my card and came close on the kid‘s (total of 70 items checked out, max is 40/card).

My husband decided to weigh the kiddo today, then the library books. She‘s 52 pounds; the books are 54. 😂

Apparently I‘m currently saving $681.50 by using the library. With 35 books and four DVDs currently borrowed...that might be right.

The local library is where my daughter and I spend many days during our vacay #happyplace 😊

We had a nice cool hour in the library followed by a not as nice hour at the park and playground - none of the available benches were in the shade! The boys of course had a ball of a time at the park

I can't wait for the new library in my hometown to open in the fall. It's going to be huge! I've driven by the construction site. The plans look amazing inside and out!

The kiddo and I went to return all our library items today, and not get more until we get home from a trip. We discussed this yesterday and this morning. We returned our items, picked up a DVD that we had requested, and were about to leave when this tearful little face looked up at me and said, “but Mama, I thought we were going to get more books.” No specific books, just more books. Broke her heart to leave without more books.

Yesterday, a bunch of long awaited library holds showed up all at once, of course.

Now, I'm generally down with simple books giving the DL on libraries, and for the most part this book is...OK, but allow me to just point out this ridiculousness:

1) Story HOUR? I cannot fathom preschoolers sitting quietly as a group for an entire hour.
2) The father drops the kid off in a walled-off room. For over an hour (if you do the math by the end of the book). That is not modeling good behavior for kids OR parents!

I found out that this is Harry, the library owl (at the Harris County Public Library). He is dressed for Black History Month and Valentine's Day!

I also picked up a form for the Columbus Public Library Winter Adult Reading Program today! It was a good library day.

Recently got a second library card at the Harris County Public Library, so I can access the catalog of most of Georgia's libraries (not just the Columbus Public Libraries). This was my second visit to pick up some graphic novels on hold. I discovered this guy, who evidently gets a new look every month!
