A soft pick. Ideal for fans of reinventions of the mythos of Persephone and Eurydice.

Lyrically written love story that follows goddess Matilda and mortal man Vincent. A prequel to Ross‘s ‘Divine Rivals‘ duology. While the first book of that remains the strongest to me, this was lovely.

I hope Ross writes a book for Bade & Adria‘s story - theirs was largely off page here but was more sadly romantic to me.

I‘m slowly realizing that #romantasy only works for me it‘s filled with slow burn yearning and both parties have their own plots to lead independently.

This one is humming along quite nicely in that regard.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Wild Reverence” is a prequel to the “Divine Rivals” and “Ruthless Vows”, and it‘s just as lush and vivid as the duology. This book is full of heart, longing, love, and self-discovery and it was a joy to read. “Divine Rivals” remains my favorite of this series, but “Wild Reverence” is a strong entry into this world.

Current goal is to fly through my remaining #BOTM backlog this month so I have a chance at completing their annual book challenge.

Even the table of contents is pretty for this one! I have high hopes for this Divine Rivals prequel. 🥰

A display at my local #BarnesAndNoble.

I recently read Divine Rivals and didn‘t realize there was a prequel coming out.

I really like this series and was excited for the prequel and it delivered. I was engrossed in Matilda and her world jumping from the underlining to skyward to earth to the wasteland and myst.

I have never read a book by an author who could perfectly explain all the minute details of an entire world while simultaneously weaving the most amazingly poetic story within it. This is one of the best books I‘ve ever read, if not the absolute best!

Putting away some recently acquired books I realized I hadn't posted about going to this author event. I have not yet read a Rebecca Ross book, though Divine Rivals has been on my list for years, but a friend wanted to go so I went. I loved the Q&A session with the ladies from the Fantasy Fangirl podcast & came away wanting to read everything she's written. I've purchased her Letters of Enchantment duo & will wait to read this, as it's related.

Although not as good as her other books, I still loved this one. Her writing is always atmospheric and this one just took longer to get into to. A goddess and a mortal fall in love and I loved the connections to her other books. I‘ll still read everything she writes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is one of those “it‘s me, not you” moments. The book has been getting really great reviews &, generally speaking, I like Ross‘ writing but this one, about a mortal & immortal falling in love never came together for me…perhaps because the relationships between the immortals, while not the main narrative thread, were far more interesting than the love story. Interesting setting, dark, brutal, & compelling but ultimately this was good not great.

I loved this book. It was both heartbreaking, interesting, and magical. It was filled with so much. A fantasy, romantasy, fiction, and so much more. I enjoyed it from start to finish. I also shed a few tears while reading this. Especially in the last Act. It has five Acts and each is better than the last. Told from Matilda and Vincent's POVs.

Five stars.

Loved this 500+ page epic set in the world of the gods from the Divine Rivals series (which I haven‘t read…yet. But do plan to remedy 😂).
My review is a bit long-winded. 😉
