"Brutally beautiful not like anything else you'll read this year, or any other." - Cassandra Clare, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Clockwork Angel Kit and Fancy Cordelle are sisters of the best kind: best friends, best confidantes, and best accomplices. The daughters of the infamous Bonesaw Killer, Kit and Fancy are used to feeling like outsiders, and thats just the way they like it. But in Portero, where the weird and wild run rampant, the Cordelle sisters are hardly the oddest or most dangerous creatures around. Its no surprise when Kit and Fancy start to give in to their deepest desirethe desire to kill. What starts as a fascination with slicing open and stitching up quickly spirals into a gratifying murder spree. Of course, the sisters arent killing just anyone, only the people who truly deserve it. But the girls have learned from the mistakes of their father, and know that a shred of evidence could get them caught. So when Fancy stumbles upon a mysterious and invisible doorway to another world, she opens a door to endless possibilities.

As predicted, absolutely zero chance of a bingo in February 😂 But I had fun!

Clare-Dragonfly And, of course, I forgot to fill in some free spaces. But I wouldn‘t have gotten a bingo anyway. 2y

Very strange book! I liked it a lot but it was a little too bloody and sexy for me to actually love. The world Reeves built is surprising and gory and delightful.

“The upside of having a serial killer for a father is that no matter what you do, it‘s never as bad as what he‘s done.”

shanaqui You know, my dad's not a serial killer (to my knowledge), but he was definitely a bad boy when he was younger (pretty much until I was born), so... it's a very good point. 😂 My parents were always rather bemused I was not more of a hellion, all things considered. 2y

Dia Reeves has said she doesn‘t do “typical” teens. So true. Think Alice in Wonderland with a cleaver. It‘s weird, violent, and disturbing, but I liked it anyway.

This was weird, creepy, kinda nonsensical in parts, and totally fucked up but I dug it.

Haven't posted in awhile (ok probably two days but it FEELS like awhile), sort of a distracted month so far. Closing in on the end of this one, it's good. I dig this sub sub genre of weird/urban fantasy ish YA. I'd put it on a rec list with Beware the Wild and Kate Karyus Quinn.

#currentlyreading this has a low score here but 75 pages in and I'm loving it. Possibly it helps I knew it was horror going in -- the teacups are bloody sure bit it's still a deceptive cover at first glance.

Day 2: Creepy Characters

Dia Reeves has the market on creepy characters, ya'll. This is not the book for everyone, as there is violence on top of violence, w/bits of extra violent chunks, sprinkled liberally w/blood and magic and even more violence. The mcs, two creepy sisters (the daughters of a serial killer) were fascinating (for twisted minds like mine), but they won't be invited to my birthday later this month!

Have I mentioned how much I love used bookstores? Seriously...I could spend hours in there. Also, I'm more willing to try books I'm iffy about because I only paid $2. Like this one. Anyone read it?

I decided to feature horror books by POC authors for today's #somethingforsept theme. It was incredibly difficult to narrow the books down to just a few. I highly encourage readers who are interested in the horror genre to hit up some Goodreads lists for authors I didn't have the space to include in the photo. #septphotochallenge

brendanmleonard i was looking for POC horror - the dark thirty is one of my go-to reccs, and not because its been scaring the dickens out of me for 20 years! thank you for this! 8y
