The Creative Tarot
The Creative Tarot: A Modern Guide to an Inspired Life | Jessa Crispin
A hip, accessible, and practical guide for artists and creative people looking to tarot for guidance and inspiration in the tradition of The Secret Language of Birthdays and Steal Like an Artist. What if the path to creativity was not as challenging as everyone thinks? What if you could find that spark, plot twist, or next project by simply looking at your life and your art through a different lens? Written for novices and seasoned readers alike, The Creative Tarot is a unique guidebook that reimagines tarot cards and the ways they can boost the creative process. Jessa Crispin guides you through the intuitive world of the tarot to get those creative juices flowing again. Thought to be esoteric and mystical, tarot cards are approachable and endlessly helpful to overcoming creative blocks. Crispin offers spiritual readings of the cards, practical information for the uninspired artist, and a wealth of fascinating anecdotes about famous artists including Virginia Woolf, Rembrandt, and David Bowie, and how they found inspiration. With five original tarot spreads and beautiful illustrations throughout, The Creative Tarot is an accessible, colorful guide that demystifies both the tarot and the creative process.

Pickpick

⭐⭐⭐
A pick on the so-so end of the scale, but I think that was more the reader than the writer.

There was a lot of information in this book and I do/will find it useful, but it did seem to be geared more to the creative types (artists/writers) rather than a more general use of tarot.

Really more a book to dabble in than read cover to cover.

#Booked2020 prompt 3

alisiakae 🎉🎉 Which #booked2020 prompt is this one for? Also tagging my cohosts @BarbaraTheBibliophage and @Cinfhen! 4y
Sace @4thhouseontheleft LOL... I think it's the winter prompt 3 "Subject mostly new to you." I'm a little late with the prompts. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Great job—sorry it wasn‘t quite the learning experience you hoped for! 4y
Sace @BarbaraTheBibliophage I think I did learn some things, but I think since I'm not an artist or writer and much of this was “use the tarot to help you in your creative process“ it wasn't that relevant to me. The general info was good though. 4y

#FirstLineFridays @ShyBookOwl

"Like a lot of teenagers who wore too much black and had an extensive incense collection, I used to fool around with a tarot deck."

Reading this for #bookspin

effani That quote is just a little too relatable! 🤣 4y
Sace @effani I think I had a deck in the 70s and the tarot chic then was more earth mother (I don't recall a lot of black.) The insence was definitely there though. 😂 4y

Reading this for #bookspin has me remembering #tarottakeover run by @ErinSueMreads and @WhiskeyMistress . I enjoyed those posts...even if I did flake out (as usual.)

MoonWitch94 Ohhh I will have to check this book out. 4y
Erinsuereads That was sooooo much fun! I've been so bad about posting. I need to do another game soon. 4y
Sace @ErinSueMreads I really enjoyed seeing the different interpretations of the cards you drew, both the books and the different decks people used. 4y
Erinsuereads Maybe I'll do that one again. I think it was totally our best game. 4y
