I enjoyed this biography in verse about the Nicaraguan poet Ruben Dario. Once again something I would have never read if not for #FoodAndLit

I need a break from Kindle and audiobooks so I pulled out a stack of library books for this weekend‘s Readathon. I‘m hoping for some cozy quiet time free from screens. #TurnThePage

Margarita Engle wrote this biography about Nicaraguan poet Rubén Darío (1867-1916) in verse. I‘d never heard of him but I learned to care about him and his poetry. He grew up poor in Nicaragua, a boy with his head in the clouds and a serious love for words and poems. Every sort of poem and experimental poetry. His work was beloved in Latin America and he was often the guest poet of presidents. Engle does a beautiful job telling his story in ⬇️

In the author‘s note, she describes the Nicaraguan poet‘s life, the subject of this book. Rubén Darío (1867-1916) appears to have had a tremendous impact on Latin America and in his home country, #Nicaragua. #foodandlit @catsandbooks
