I picked up this short story collection on a whim, having never read Moore before. These are fantastic. So dry and witty and all within the theme of self-help, interpreted in many ways. I‘ll be reading more of her short stories for sure.

And I second what @Lizpixie said about SAA, they‘re always delightful books. Maybe rereading an old favorite would work too? Or L.M. Montgomery? Or D.E. Stevenson? Many of Lorrie Moore's short stories are HILARIOUS, in a slow-burn, slightly dark, brilliantly witty sort of way. Moore is definitely my favorite short story writer—if you haven't read her yet, Self-Help is a great place to start (if a short novel is more your style, Who Will Run the Frog Hospital? may very well be my favorite book of all time!). #lorriemooreevangelism #funnybooks #augustofpages
